in 2017, we had a hugely enriching key note from Elke Geraerts with BENE. Followed by a round table discussion regarding the purpose of work. Now, 6 years on, I was triggered by a key note from Isabel. A hot topic, true, but clearly not hype. I believe Elke and Isabel's brains think along similar lines. Once again, I was impressed by this masterclass. A live, engaging and interactive conversation between audience, panel and moderator Isabel. Have you ever heard of "proximity bias" or a "mature working relationship"? What I understood is that "managerial courage" or "guts" are necessary to introduce and especially continue successful hybrid working. It is a strategic choice that is part of the corporate culture and affects the corporate structure . If we choose hybrid working then the WHY question has to be answered and described. As a company, you need to know what you stand for. You have to have "guts" as a company. The only way to win and retain the war for talent. Hybirde working as a sustainable solution. Va.bene! Stefan
Masterclass by Isabel Declercq in collaboration with better minds at work.

Was cool join a B Lab event yesterday tailored for CEOs of B Corps, featuring a panel of leaders from innocent drinks, House of Hackney, and Shakespeare Martineau. They chatted about their B Corp journeys, and it was great to see perspectives from different industry heads. Left me reflecting on a few points: 💰 The traditional valuation of businesses primarily focuses on EBITA. This method overlooks the significant, but non-financial, contributions a company makes. How can we re-calibrate our evaluation criteria to factor in other positive impacts? 🌿 Producing goods and services extends beyond financial figures, incorporating environmental and social costs. Can businesses be incentivised to look at the real cost of what we produce? 🤝 Individual B Corps are making strides, but there’s an untapped potential in collaborative efforts. B Corps working together could be greater than the sum of their parts. What strategies can facilitate collaboration, enhancing our impact? Thanks B Lab and panelists Nick Canney, Frieda Gormley, and Sarah Walker-Smith. My first event. 5 stars, will return.

I'm still buzzing from the opportunity to see Jude and Marcus speak 2 weeks ago. I left the event inspired about the work that we do and how to continue to push the conversations forward on how we treat and use data in our day to day work. As Dr. Marcus Collins challenged us..."We don't see the world as 'what' it is, we see the world as "WHO we are". Noodling on that will expand your horizons of how you approach the work that you do regardless of part of the 'organization' you are with. I'm left with these additional nuggets of wisdom from the talk from both Dr. Marcus Collins and Judith Carr-Rodriguez... 1 - Consumption is a CULTURAL act. 2 - Don't mistake information for intimacy. 3 - Shakespeare was right - "All the world's a stage, and we are merely [SOCIAL] actors." 4 - Stories of 'failure' generally result in stories of innovation. 5 - Don't confuse kindness with weakness. 6 - Good storytelling and creativity is 'messy' - it is likely clear at the beginning, messy in the middle and magical by the end. 7 - The messy middle is necessary! 8 - Sometimes the obvious isn't obvious until it's pointed out. #alwayslearning #4As
