Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Games First event in Helsinki, organized by Supercell , and let me tell you, it was an eye-opening experience! As a Talent Manager at Nitro Games, I'm relatively new to the gaming industry, and attending events like this is essential for my professional development.
Among the many inspiring speeches, one particular talk by Inari Bornholm , an industry veteran, truly resonated with me. She emphasized the importance of embracing discomfort as a means of learning and growing. In an industry that is constantly evolving, it's crucial to step out of our comfort zones and challenge ourselves.
I feel very vulnerable when facing with the unknown or unfamiliar, but it's precisely in these moments that I have the greatest potential for development. As Talent Managers, we have to constantly educate ourselves, even if it means venturing into uncharted territories. By pushing the boundaries of our knowledge and skill set, we can stay ahead of the game and contribute meaningfully to our teams.
Inari's speech reminded me that growth and learning often require stepping into the discomfort zone. It's where innovation and breakthroughs happen. It's where we find new perspectives, develop resilience, and build the confidence to tackle challenges head-on.
So, let's embrace discomfort together! Let's be open to new ideas, willing to take risks, and eager to learn from our failures. #discomfort #gamesfirst
