🌟 May is Mental Health Awareness Month! 🌟 Did you know that mentoring programs can make a huge difference in supporting positive mental health outcomes for youth? At Big Brothers Big Sisters, we prioritize mental health and well-being because we understand the impact caring mentors (Bigs) can have on young lives. Our evidence-based mentoring model speaks volumes: ✨ 92% of Littles feel a sense of belonging with BBBS, crucial for mental well-being. ✨ 82% of Littles maintained or improved their mental health. ✨ 90% of Littles say their Big made them feel better about themselves. But there's more to be done! That's why we're excited about the RISE from Trauma Act (H.R.4541, S.1426), a bipartisan effort to address the mental health crisis among youth. This bill supports programs tackling trauma, violence, and addiction while boosting community resources for better responses. Let's continue fostering positive relationships and supporting mental health together! 💙 To learn more: https://lnkd.in/de5jxdGC #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #BBBS #RISEfromTraumaAct #BBBSBroward #mentoring

Mental health literacy (MHL) allows people to engage in conversations they may otherwise avoid... ... and it helps people respond with decency in moments of distress. MHL is an education framework that includes 4 components: 1️⃣ how to foster positive mental health 2️⃣ understanding common disorders and treatments 3️⃣ how to seek help effectively 4️⃣ understanding stigma and how to reduce it This mental health awareness month, let's go 💦 upstream 💦 for mental health with #mentalhealthliteracy #u4mh #crisis #communityhealth #mentalhealth #upstream #mham

Children's Mental Health Week 2024 🧡 Talking to children about their mental health is crucial as it promotes emotional intelligence, encourages open communication, and builds trust between caregivers and children. Normalising these discussions helps reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, while early intervention allows for effective management of potential challenges. These conversations provide an opportunity to teach coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and resilience, fostering a supportive environment where children feel valued and understood. Moreover, addressing mental health early prepares children for life changes and promotes a positive mindset, contributing to their overall well-being. Place2Be have some great conversation starters on how to approach the subject of mental health with children and young people.
