When we first started RFS, we focused on a smaller number of roles specific to engineering - like Senior SWEs or Frontend or Backend Engineers. Now, we still hire for these roles. But after working with founders and companies who had hiring needs that went beyond a core technical team, we’ve added more. We now hire for roles like Social Media Managers, Senior Accountants, Finance Managers, and many others. Despite our technical focus from when we first started, clients come to us to fill these additional roles because: 1. We’re able to find people who are excited about THEIR startup. We know what types of candidates they’re looking for, how they work, what values they have...it’s just easier to source candidates who will be a much better fit. 2. Our communication skills. We set up channels for solid communication, like dedicated Slack channels, or other ways our clients like to communicate - and we’re constantly in contact. 😀 3. We’re speedy. We’ve got a great database set up with candidates we’ve already talked to and know their strengths. When a role opens up - we can start sending profiles in a day or less. We’ve been able to grow a lot because we know the startups and companies we work with well, and what they’re looking for. 💻 I have been hearing more and more complaints from Senior even tech lead and manager level candidates about have to do low-level tech tests or home projects. 📝✔️ Guys please stop doing this, It's actually pretty insulting! When you have been looking to hire a niche Senior Software Engineer for several months and you finally get introduced to that standout profile, who has more than enough experience for the role... Why would you ask that person, to spend hours coding something they can do with their eyes closed? I know it may be part of the standard interview procedure but don't treat a junior dev and a stand out lead dev the same! It makes NO sense! 🤷♂️ All it does is put the candidate off applying for your role, or they will delay your process in favour of another business who has a more streamlined process. ⚫️ You wouldn't ask an Accountant to do 2 hours of bookkeeping to prove they were a good accountant. ⚫️ You wouldn't ask a builder to build a wall to prove they can lay bricks. ⚫️ You wouldn't ask a Doctor to diagnose 5 patients to prove their knowledge So stop doing the same with Senior Software Engineers! The market right now is as overpopulated and challenging than I have possibly EVER seen it and the best candidates truly are at a premium, lets make sure we are doing all we can to firstly attract the best and second to actually sign them. #recruitmenttips #softwareengineers #gettech #hiring #toptalent
