Ask for directions in your job search! I often get messages from job seekers who are looking for positions outside of the industries I work in. None of them ask if I can point them in the right direction or if I know anyone else in their industry. There is no recruiter out there who is the keeper of all jobs! Most of us specialize in an industry BUT we likely know someone personally or in our professional network who works in your industry. #recruitertips #jobseekers

Next up on our Series of "10 Job Search Mistakes to Avoid" This one may be a bit controversial among some recruiters, but I'm not afraid to put it out there. Mistake #2: Don't rely on ONE recruiting agency or recruiter to help you find a job! Some might promise you the 'DREAM JOB' and then go radio silent, leaving you feeling discouraged. If you're on the job hunt, cast a wide net, connect with various professionals. Remember, each recruiter brings different opportunities to the table. If one doesn't have the perfect fit, another might surprise you! Keep in mind, recruiters are working on behalf of the companies looking to hire. So, while we're excellent guides, putting all your job-hunting eggs in one basket might not lead to the golden opportunity you're seeking. Let's navigate this job search journey together! #careeradvice #jobsearchtips #recruiterwithheart❤️

One of the surprising aspect of my recent job search, was very low number (virtual 0) good job offer from "head-hunters". In the past, I didn't bother to search a job directly, or even to do a lot with my CV. I left everything in the hands of recruiters, but not this time. The lack of offers wasn't caused by lack of talking to recruiters. I spoke with quite a few (around 25), and there were meaningful conversations. Actually, one of the bright side of the search was seeing the human side of the situation. I felt that many of the people I knew, rooted for me and tried to help. What was a bit of a surprise, among them were "headhunters". I don't mean in a "you got a job, I'll get my cut" way. No, they really wished me well, cared about my situation and tried to help in many ways, sometimes beyond what you expect from them. Among many good calls, I especially remember our conversations with Ryan Fisher from SoCode Recruitment, Nick Clark from Immersum and Martin Jee from Oxenbury Partners. My CV wasn't bad, but Kieran Daly helped with making it even better. #recruting, #jobsearch, #CV

The current job market has been described by many job seekers as challenging. This is partly due to the rising number of lay-offs that have been happening over the last few years post-COVID; which has resulted in more candidates in the job market. Given the state of the job market, I encourage my unemployed clients to be more proactive about their job search. Being proactive in your job search entails: 1. Ensure your resume and LinkedIn is effectively communicating your value 2. Identifying and researching companies you would like to work for 3. Try to connect with someone at your preferred companies 4. Leverage your network 5. Reach Out to Hiring Managers 6. Connect with recruitment companies 7. Create public profiles on a few job boards 8. Do Not Get Distracted #careercounselling #careeradvisor #careercoach #careerdevelopment

Job Posted 3 Days Ago… I Don’t Stand a Chance! 😥 Some job seekers keep an eye on job boards and other sites, applying as soon as a new position pops up. It's a smart approach! But don't forget about older job listings — they're still worth checking out. Here are a few thoughts about that: 💎 Recruiting might stretch out over a period of time. 💎 There could be a need for multiple hires for the same job. 💎 Many resumes are rejected in the initial stages, but just because there's a large pool of applicants doesn't mean you're out of the running! Our advice? 👉 Don't overlook job openings that have been up for several days or longer. Sure, they might have garnered a lot of interest already. But hey, you never know – it could be you they end up hiring😉 hashtag #jobseekers #jobopportunity

What are 'ghost jobs' and how can you spot them? Ghost jobs, or ghost listings, are vacancies that employers list but have no intention of filling. A survey by Clarify Capital found that 68% of managers had job postings active for more than 30 days, while one in 10 have had a job posting open for over 6 months. Around half of companies keep job postings open because they are always open to new people, the research found. However, 43% aren't actively trying to fill positions because they want to give off the impression that the company is growing.
