👋🏼Hello LinkedIn ... it's been a while!! 😴 After taking a self enforced, slightly longer than I was originally planning, break from social media ... the blissful return of Strictly 🪩 this weekend was just what I needed to get my butt back into gear! The People Choreographer® brand name was originally inspired by Strictly Come Dancing. My purpose is to make workplace communities inclusive and places that people want to be a part of and we can take so much from the world of dance and the show. First of all the diversity of the contestants. So much representation of age, gender, ability, race, background as well as soap operas! ⁉️ Then there is the approach. How is it that organisations invest so much money in change programmes and projects and still not get the buy in they need from their people, yet a tv programme can take a diverse group of individuals and teach them how to dance and create an amazingly inclusive tv programme? 🕺🏼💃🏾 It's because they put the individuals front and centre. They understand their different learning needs, motivations, requirements and the importance of adapting their communication style and ways of working. 🪩Strictly forces people to step out of their comfort zone and learn new skills ... as well as embrace a world of fake tan and sequins ... what's not to love??!! Okinawa Actors School resumes activities for the first time in 20 years Shows new training members | NHK - https://lnkd.in/gb8PSezp "Okinawa Actors School", which has trained artists representing Okinawa, has resumed full-fledged activities for the first time in about 20 years, and on the 4th, the newly trained members were unveiled in Naha City. The "Okinawa Actors School", which opened in 1983, turned out artists with singing and dancing skills and caused a nationwide boom, but its activities were greatly reduced in the 2000s. 
 
 
 
 On the 4th, Anna Makino, who was appointed as the producer, held a press conference in Naha City toward the resumption of activities, saying, "I want to carry this big billboard and do my best to leave the best results as a representative of Okinawa." said.
 
 
 
 
 After that, the 49 members of "BBWAVESjr.", who were selected through auditions in April, gave a performance of singing and dancing.
 
 
 
 
 One of the members, Neil, who is in the 6th grade of elementary school, said, "I'm happy to create my own songs and impress the audience, so that's my goal."

We've seen our fair share of Dancing with the Stars to know that when two dancers are in sync, they glide perfectly across the floor. However, it's obvious, and sometimes cringy if one pair is off. Dancer Auditions. If you are just starting out and it’s your first, audition days can be a daunting process. At PEEL, we aim to make to this process as friendly, cooperative and a supportive environment as possible. We have a wonderful team onsite to help and assist, it is in OUR best interest that you do your best and feel comfortable. If at any point you’re unsure of anything, or the process please feel free to speak out and ask questions. Here are some little tips to help you through the day: 🌟Arrive early, this allows you time to sign in, orientate yourself to the venue and gives you time to work on your physical and mental state to be prepared for the day ahead. Make sure you have all the correct paperwork work with you as well. ⭐It’s okay and a natural emotion to be nervous, remember you are not the only one, Take some deep breaths, we recommend the 4-7-8 breathing method. Close your eyes breath in through your nose for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds and breathe out through your mouth for 8 seconds. ✨Better to have more clothing than you need than less. Bring the correct dance clothing and shoes that accentuates your lines. This allows the judges, choreographers and adjudicators to see your alignment and movement. Follow the dress code! 🌟Do not hesitate or feel embarrassed to allow yourself plenty of time to do a full body warm up in the waiting area. ⭐Water is your best friend! Plan for a long day with recalls, make sure you have enough fluids for a whole day and bring natural energy boosting snacks with you too! ✨ Even if you are not chosen this time do not see it as rejection. Focus on the positive experiences of the day. We will be sending all auditionees a free download with tips on how to deal with not being chosen. 🌟We all make mistakes. Don’t let errors define your audition. Within my work, I watch a lot of showreels. Singing, Dancing, Acting - all styles. I’ve spoken before both on social media and within my book about tips for successfully executing your reel and making a great first impression from it. What I have noticed many times is performers putting sections into their showreel because they believe they should have it in there rather than them wanting to have it as part of their promotional material. You should only put things in your showreel that you feel comfortable with and what represents you best. A showreel is generally used to spark interest in a casting team to then call you into a live audition. They may hire you from the reel directly but often it is used as an initial screening to see your suitability for a role. If you don’t feel comfortable singing legit songs and feel they don’t represent what you do best, you don’t have to put them in your reel just because someone else has done or a ‘guide to showreels’ has once said so. The same if you are not a technical dancer, you don’t need to show off your weaknesses. Your showreel should be personal to you and display all your strengths. If a casting team needs to see something more specific, they will ask for it or call you in to audition. I have spoken with some performers I know about their showreels and a lot have said how they haven’t felt comfortable presenting certain things they have in their reel. If you relate to this, then take those bits out. It is really important to have an online presence with your footage these days to get into the audition room, however it will only be helpful if you are happy and comfortable about the material you are showcasing. You should always be proud to show off your promotional materials. The showreel does not need to cover every style and genre you have ever taken class in. Choose the best bits of what you do and display short sections. I did another scary thing... A few weeks ago I shared with you all that I still my first stand up comedy set, and your response was overwhelming kind, thank you. In a similar vein, and on my mission to get out of my comfort zone and always be improving as a presenter/performer, I recently did my first improv class! I always felt improv was something that 'other' people do. I never felt I was very good at performing arts, and the thought of improv would have made me so nervous 10 years ago. But the more I researched on ways to become a better speaker, the more I saw people recommend improv. Most of the best actors/presenters/performers in the world studied improv. So I thought... why not? Monday night I went down to the The Bristol Improv Theatre with very little idea of what to expect. 2 hours later I left having: - Learnt the importance of not having to run with an idea or thought process, and feeling I can 'drop' things as soon as they aren't serving me/my audience. - I learnt the ability to come up with things off the top of my head is better than I thought, but it IS a learned skill you need to keep practicing. - And I embraced the silliness, and had WAY more fun than I'd expected! I also realised MOST of us have done natural improv at some point in their life. Especially anyone who's ever been a bit tipsy in a festival field, and started doing weird skits with strangers (me at every festival).
