Meta preparing React Compiler React Compiler is a new experimental compiler that we’ve open sourced to get early feedback from the community. It is a build-time only tool that automatically optimizes your React app. It works with plain JavaScript, and understands the Rules of React, so you don’t need to rewrite any code to use it. The compiler also includes an eslint plugin that surfaces the analysis from the compiler right in your editor. The plugin runs independently of the compiler and can be used even if you aren’t using the compiler in your app. We recommend all React developers to use this eslint plugin to help improve the quality of your codebase. Note: It still has rough edges and is not yet fully ready for production. React Compiler requires React 19 Beta. Article: https://lnkd.in/dU7MZgyN Official Docs: https://lnkd.in/d4FE56gt

This is a weird statement. Big changes will be coming up for React in 2024. The React compiler is a game-changer. Will React developers stop using hooks/hof like useMemo, memo, useCallback, useContext, context providers, forward refs, lazy, and...?

🌟 Exciting News from React Conf! 🌟 I just wrapped up watching the React Conf keynote and had to share the highlights with you all! 1️⃣ React 19 Updates: Major focus on React 19, which is now a Release Candidate. The stable version is expected to ship in the next few weeks. The removal of forwardRef in favor of passing refs got a huge reaction from the crowd. 2️⃣ React Compiler Goes Open Source: Remember React Forget from the last conference? After nearly 3 years, React Compiler is now open source! Over 1900 commits and 300,000 lines of code, including JavaScript and Rust versions. This experimental compiler optimizes React apps at build time, making them faster and simpler to write. 3️⃣ Performance Boosts: Instagram has seen a 2.5x improvement in app responsiveness and significant page load time reduction using React Compiler. It can remove up to 177% of memoized component code. 4️⃣ Ease of Adoption: There is no need to rewrite existing code. The compiler works with current React rules. ESLint plugin helps enforce React rules for better code quality. 5️⃣ Community Feedback: Although still experimental, early feedback is crucial. Try it out in smaller projects and share your thoughts. React Compiler represents a fundamental shift in optimizing React applications, making our code cleaner and apps faster. I can’t wait to dive deeper into this and see what we can all build with it! https://lnkd.in/dq4vMmUb #ReactConf #React19 #ReactCompiler #WebDevelopment #OpenSource #JavaScript #FrontendDevelopment #PerformanceOptimization Let me know your thoughts and experiences with these updates in the comments! 🚀

By the end of 2024, we’ll likely never need these APIs again: • useMemo, useCallback, memo → React Compiler react compiler is now used in production for instagram.com • forwardRef → ref is a prop • React.lazy → RSC, promise-as-child • useContext → use(Context) • throw promise → use(promise) • <Context.Provider> → <Context> https://lnkd.in/ge8Ex6qg

Finally, React Compiler goes open source. Though still experimental and requires React 19 Beta. What you can already do: 1. See if your codebase is compatible and add it (nextjs, remix and react native as well) 2. Start fresh React project where Compiler is enabled by default More info here: #React #Nextjs #ReactCompiler
