I think the card shows Frost Bank tower but Atlassian building is at Ash and Congress cross street. That was fun to play with Google map.

    What is it to start a family office? For some you walk into an existing structure for others you need to build that structure. When I started with our family back in 2009, it was a chair, desk and phone. This can be daunting but allows one to build a culture and a process that works for that individual and family they represent.

    We’ve outgrown the office as a way to share knowledge. In traditional office environments, it was easy to let information live in people’s brains because it still * felt * accessible. If you needed something, you could walk by your teammate’s desk and ask them. But modern teams are more global and online, meaning they usually aren’t sitting near each other. We saw the inefficiency of “ask your neighbor” information sharing in an internet context during the pandemic: meeting time and messages skyrocketed, leading to thousands of wasted hours per day. It’s time for teams to make information (goals, projects, deliverables, data) self-serve by putting it online. I had the pleasure of talking with Erika Trautman McCaddon and Mark Cruth about how to do this and more as part of Atlassian's latest Lightning Talk.     Professionals used to use the office to share knowledge, but we've outgrown that practice, says Atlassian's Annie Dean.
