Cognitive science (including theory of mind) and technology simulation (including AI) mimics – and mass population and organisations have a thirst for creating human-like attributes with technology = to 'enable' our lives to be easier.

Insightful conversation as always, thanks for sharing. It seems Genevieve's north star of 'in service' or 'make the world a better place' is a great place to start with AI and of course her comments about actually knowing the problem you are aiming to solve for or are you just automating or making something faster or more efficient when it might not be the core job to be done anyway... I love her ability to bring the fundamental starting point for a lot of these things to the forefront.

Imagine have the strategic vision to ask the consequence of scale question early in any new category ….

If you can mimic the full dial-up "song"... you should probably be taking a multivitamin.

I love the constellation analogy. That's super helpful in thinking through all the components ...

Topic suggestion, Dominic: ANU is full of humans, not robots; all the while much of the world is suffering with/from depression, anxiety, obesity and more. If we're learning how to build robot's but not looking after our mental and physical health, is humankind's current obsession with AI going to lead to our ultimate demise? (And how close are we to becoming the people from the movie Idiocracy if we don't use AI in the right way, and it makes future generations unhealthy dum-dums!?? 🤔)

all too often, teams and orgs are excited by the new shiny thing, and gravitate towards it, thinking it will be better than what they have, but because they haven't resolved the underlying process, that new thing will not solve any of the actual problems. instead... it will just doom the new thing, too.
