Is this a fun Friday morning watch? Nope. Is it interesting to see how one of the worlds largest consulting firms present creative effectiveness? Yep and whilst at its core much of what’s being said here would be said by a creative consultancy it’s the language used and the singular focus on creativity as a mechanism for growth that is distinctive. There is no embarrassment here that the job of creativity is to sell more, more often and at higher margins. I believe in the mid term we could see a hollowing out of the middle. There will remain a market for cost focused agencies who use AI to do basic executions (take your pick of numerous Halloween ads that featured the copy “have a treat, not a trick”) and there will be a market for creative consultancies / channel experts that are outcome focused…. but the middle market that’s too expensive to compete with AI but lack the strategic heft to compete with the consultancies / experts, interesting to see where they turn. #agencyland #shareholdervalue #positioning

Sincerely, I hope someone does a public and transparent examination of: A) the psychology studies that underpin these new methodologies (were they designed and powered properly, and do they replicate?); and B) the findings of these methodologies and how they link with long-term business results, beyond the case studies cherry-picked by the vendors to demonstrate efficacy (even a broken clock is right twice a day). #marketing #marketingscience #pretesting #advertising
