Today is World Population Day, a day that highlights the importance of addressing inequalities and promoting rights and choices for all individuals. Despite the global population reaching almost 8 billion, there are still numerous disparities based on factors such as gender, ethnicity, class, religion, sexual orientation, disability, and origin. Discrimination, harassment, and violence continue to affect many people. At ARK Venture Studio we focus on identifying innovative solutions to address these systemic risks and create a safer world for everyone. #worldpopulationday #insuranceinnovation #ventures https://lnkd.in/dFFePXn

😮WORLD POPULATION DAY!😮 World Population Day on July 11 is a holiday that’s dedicated to focusing on the importance of population issues.😮👀 The day was established by the United Nations due to the massive interest people had in Five Billion Days in 1987.🤔 World Population Day serves to highlight the growing problems that come with a growing global population.📊 Overpopulation is a crucial issue, especially considering that world resources are depleting at an unsustainable rate. 😕 Awareness about the effects of overpopulation on development and nature is emphasised. 🍀🌲🐸 The increasing population also sheds light on health problems faced by women during pregnancy and childbirth, making the need for family planning, gender equality, and maternal health more important than ever. 🙏 The population issue is also causing strain on society: heinous crimes are happening more than ever in the areas of gender inequality and human rights, especially in developing countries. 😮👆 Leadership is already doing a subpar job at taking care of its citizens. As more people come into the world, violations such as human trafficking and child labour are increasingly becoming normal. 😕🤔😱

You might know that there are more than seven billion people on Earth right now, but how often do you stop to think about what that really means? Five Billion Day, in 1987, was meant to acknowledge the date on which the world’s population reached an estimated five billion people, which supposedly happened on July 11 of that year (hence the annual date for World Population Day). And look how much the population has increased since then! Population issues cover a lot of territories, from family planning, gender equality, and environmental impacts to human rights concerns. This year focuses on how to safeguard the health and rights of women and girls, and putting the brakes on COVID-19). World Population Day serves to highlight the growing problems that come with a growing global population. Overpopulation is a crucial issue, especially considering that world resources are depleting at an unsustainable rate. Awareness about the effects of overpopulation on development and nature is emphasized. The increasing population also sheds light on health problems faced by women during pregnancy and childbirth, making the need for family planning, gender equality, and maternal health more important than ever. The issue of population is also causing strain on society: heinous crimes are happening more than ever in the areas of gender inequality and human rights, especially in developing countries. Leadership is already doing a subpar job at taking care of its citizens, and as more people come into the world, violations such as human trafficking and child labor are increasingly becoming normal. Wishing you a Happy World Population Day. Let’s not take overpopulation lightly because it has the potential to destroy this world. #WorldPopulationDay2023, #GrowingPopulation,, #Unsustainable, #Healthproblems, #FamilyPlanning, #GenderEquility, #MaternalHealth

Over 400 women shared their experiences of life in #Norfolk ➡️ bit.ly/4agHNXq When communities speak, we listen. Here are the 7 key findings from our report: 🙋♀️Women identify themselves by their roles and professions rather than solely as "women". 🤱Childcare is a major barrier to women in the workplace. 🫸Prejudice around gender and disability impacts women's employment. 📅Women want activities at times that suit them and to be more aware of what activities are available near them. 👩⚕️Healthcare gender inequalities related to age and ethnicity were identified. 🤦♀️Statutory services are difficult to navigate and men delivering services often don’t understand women's issues. 🛡️Safety is a key concern for women: particularly night time safety, police relations and reporting of crimes.

Ageism disproportionately impacts older people and combined with gender inequality, can lead to women experiencing gendered ageism. In fact, a 2022 United Nations report for International Day for Older Persons found that as women grow older, their lives are increasingly affected by experiences of gendered disadvantage. Women’s Health Victoria wants to address that. In My Prime, a new health and wellbeing initiative designed for and designed with women over 50, will be here in two weeks. *WHV aims to be trans and gender diverse inclusive. Please see our website for further information* #InMyPrime #women #olderwomen #ageism #genderequity #health #wellbeing #womenshealth #empower #empowerwomen #information

🌍 Stagnating Progress in Maternal and Newborn Health: Time for Action! 💪 A new WHO report reveals that global efforts to reduce maternal and newborn deaths have stagnated due to declining investments. Shockingly, 290k maternal deaths, 1.9m stillbirths, and 2.3m newborn deaths occur annually. These deaths are largely preventable. COVID-19, rising poverty, and crises have strained healthcare systems, with only 1 in 10 countries having sufficient funds. We need increased investment in primary healthcare, skilled workers, essential supplies, and gender equality. Let's work together to achieve the UN SDG targets and save lives! 🤝❤️ [Reference: UN WHO Report on Maternal and Newborn Health, 2023] #MaternalHealth #NewbornHealth #InvestInHealthcare #SDGs #GlobalHealth #kriash

Keeping ourselves abreast of how our world works is essential to how we view the world. Today we want to leave you with this: The Gender Wealth Gap Is Larger Than the Income Gap in the US. Families headed by women have just 55 cents in median wealth for every dollar of wealth owned by families headed by men. Gender wealth gaps are even starker and vary more when viewed by race/ethnicity and marital status. As we educate the next generation, we need to keep in mind intersectional factors that shape their world. What are our Gender, Youth, and Social Inclusion (GYSI) Tools? These are tools that provide a full understanding of how marginalization disadvantages some groups in relation to others and why those disadvantages are linked to adverse health conditions and outcomes. These GYSI tools are designed to enable program staff, implementing partners, and program participants to reflect upon, challenge and change our personal gender, age, and marginalization-related biases, prejudices, and stereotypes. They also help to identify and analyze the different needs and interests of women, girls, men, boys, people with nonbinary gender identities, people living with disability, and other marginalized groups to achieve optimum health outcomes throughout their lives.
