Are you struggling with the performance of a recent hire and uncertain of how to proceed? It's a common scenario, but often the solution is closer than we think. Take a step back and shift your approach from frustration to facilitation. Before questioning their abilities, consider these critical questions: ✅ Have I set clear expectations? ✅ Are the necessary tools and processes in place? ✅ Is their role and its impact on the company's goals well-defined? Addressing a performance gap starts with a thorough self-assessment. Ensure you've empowered your team members with comprehensive SOPs, decision-making frameworks, and regular communication touchpoints. When knowledge or skill is lacking, identify the areas in need of additional training or resources. A virtual assistant struggling with social media tasks might simply need further guidance on strategy and content creation, not a dismissal. If reflection and additional support still don't yield results, then it may be time to consider a structured improvement plan, and as a last resort, parting ways. I've unpacked these strategies in detail on Episode 18 of my podcast, "Your team member doesn't hate you." I explore troubleshooting methods when a team member's performance doesn't meet expectations, even after due diligence in their onboarding process. It's a candid discussion on a sensitive topic, providing valuable insights for any leader facing this challenge. Tune in to go from being puzzled to empowered in handling team performance issues. #Leadership #Management #Hiring #TeamPerformance #BusinessGrowth #CareerDevelopment

That first one is so important! I always love Brene Brown's idea of "What does done look like to you?" because it doesn't always look the same and it's so important to be on the same page.
