That’s a must more power in rewarding good behavior. I have taken extensive hours in relationship and parenting groups and one video that I was shown stands out. Mom: is playing with baby who is happy and smiling then she says time for lunch starts the water boiling and gets the preparations in the background baby: is still smiling and playing and you can see him get disgruntled cause mom isn’t noticing he starts to fuss then cry as she is going to start to play with him the phone rings just as he is starting to calm down she answers the phone baby: quicker goes right to crying she immediately goes and starts playing with him this time it takes a couple minutes to get him smiling and happy again as soon as he is mom: deals with the phone call and lunch and baby immediately starts crying this time taking even longer to stop. Point being is we often don’t invest as much time as we should with positive attention but they get as much as it takes to stop them from crying. Are we rewarding the bad behavior or the good. We are programmed like this from babies that the spotlight only last a brief time of your objects attention. If we argue or act out we get lots of attention we get the complete focus in most cases. I do the best I can to reward and be there for my friends and children show them the attention they desire and you can’t argue with results. What has happened though is if this attention gets taken away or if someone feels they can’t provide the same they lie and tarnish my reputation and get between the relationship.
