Unveiling the Truth for a Sustainable Future: On International Day for the Right to Truth, I stand with all those who champion access to accurate and unbiased information, particularly in the face of human rights abuses. As a Sustainable Goodwill Ambassador, I believe truth is fundamental to achieving a healthy planet, a just society, and a world where human rights are respected. Why Truth Matters for Human Rights and Sustainability: Justice and Reconciliation: Uncovering the truth about human rights violations is crucial for achieving justice for victims, holding perpetrators accountable, and preventing future atrocities. This is critical for building a more peaceful and sustainable future. Empowering Survivors: Access to the truth empowers survivors of human rights abuses to heal, reclaim their dignity, and participate in rebuilding their communities. Preventing Repeat Offenses: Unearthing the truth about past human rights violations helps identify systemic problems and implement reforms to prevent similar abuses from happening again. This is crucial for a stable and sustainable society. The Fight for Truth Continues: The right to truth is often under threat, especially in the context of human rights violations. We must: Support Human Rights Defenders: Bravery of journalists, activists, and human rights defenders who risk their lives to uncover the truth must be recognized and supported. Combat Disinformation: Misinformation campaigns can be used to obfuscate human rights violations. Let's promote media literacy and critical thinking skills to combat these tactics. Promote International Cooperation: International collaboration is vital for investigating human rights violations and ensuring accountability. Together, we can build a future where truth is a cornerstone of a sustainable world, one that respects human rights and fosters peace. Let's celebrate those who courageously pursue truth and empower our communities to demand justice. If you look what is spread on TikTok, it is difficult to get hold of it. We need to make sure to combat disinformation. There is the DSA (Digital Services Act) which entered into force and is now applicable across all member states. 📉👀 Did you know that the level of democracy in Europe has fallen back 40 years, to where it was in 1978? Over the past decade, some European democracies have seen multiple challenges that threaten our progress. That is why the #EEANorwayGrants took part at #RightsForum24 in #Vienna earlier this week. The Fundamental Rights Forum 👥, brought to life by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, is the biggest Forum on human rights in Europe. We were there with several of our partners, such as the The European Wergeland Centre (EWC), Ökotárs Alapítvány - Hungarian Environmental Partnership Foundationítvány, and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. On November 17, the United Nations headquarters in New York received a far-right group called Political Network for Values (PNfV). Little by little, this group has gained ground in multilateral spaces with the aim of promoting its anti-rights agenda. PNfV leaders, sponsors, speakers, and members have close ties to groups that have identified themselves as hate organizations, such as Family Watch International, the Center for Family and Human Rights, Alliance Defending Freedom, and the International Organization for the Family. Figures such as Chilean lawyer José Antonio Kast, the founder of the Vox political party, Santiago Abascal, and the Spanish politician Jamile Mayor Oreja are members of PNfV. These characters are known for supporting dictatorships and being openly transphobic, Islamophobic, and spreading other hate messages. It’s concerning that these organizations infiltrate the United Nations as the UN itself seeks to implement campaigns against hate speech. To promote a culture of peace and non-violence, global unity and appreciation of cultural diversity and of cultures contribution to sustainable development To separate the basis of spiritualism and materialism in the short and "go-between" form of literature that defines the spectrum of religious definitions in a single notion, building trust between all cultures, norms and mores, without disgracing the faith of any humankind on Earth. To serve a common subject to empower the United Nations as a body to aid in formulating a straightforward and direct relationship with the public at the grass roots level through academia hubs, to ensure the safety and morality of our future generation by making the UN-SDGs a house hold word.
