Have you ever wondered how integrated planning can look like at companies using product attributes like grade, color, or length to describe their products? This often includes configure-to-order, and it applies to many businesses in metals, paper, packaging, foil, wovens and non-wovens, wood products, glass, and all kinds of construction materials ... well, let's say it's surprisingly wide-spread. Check out our brand new (demo) video featuring planning processes for Mill Products industries at strategic, tactical, and operational levels. Or in other words it contains steps from demand planning, sales & operations planning, cross plant planning, down to production planning including block & campaign planning! https://lnkd.in/emyDuTgn

Supply Chain Management is one of the most crucial disciplines in the business and industrial world. SCM is an integrated system that connects functions and organizations in both production and product distribution processes until they reach the hands of consumers. This system focuses on the flow of goods or services from suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, to consumers, all interconnected as a unified whole. Supply chain management aims to control or link the centralized production, delivery, and distribution processes of a product. By managing the supply chain, companies can reduce costs to become more efficient and deliver products to consumers more swiftly. This is achieved by maintaining strict control over internal inventory, internal production, distribution, sales, and vendor inventory. In the online training course "Supply Chain Management" that I attended with Mr. Adhe Priyambodo, S.T. (Procurement Manager at Shell Indonesia) Adhe Priyambodo, I gained valuable knowledge and new skills delivered through simulation-based case studies. Some of the key topics covered included: 1. Supply Chain Management (SCM) roles & processes, 2. SCM goals & KPI's, 3. SCM strategy, 4. Challenges in SCM and the Bullwhip Effect, 5. Operation planning (Demand Management, Business Planning Structure, Sales & Operation Planning, and Production Planning & Master Production Schedule). To further enhance my understanding of Supply Chain Management, I continued my education by participating in the next event, which delved into "Distribution Management" with Mr. Rizal Ardianto, S.T., M.T. Rizal Ardianto Distribution is one of the most critical aspects of business. It is one of the oldest forms of commerce in human history, dating back to the barter system. As time has progressed, transportation and communication technologies have advanced, and the variety of products sold has increased, making logistics networks more complex. Distribution management is critical to a company's ability to successfully attract customers and operate profitably. Executing it successfully requires effective management of the entire distribution process. Distribution involves diverse functions such as customer service, shipping, warehousing, inventory control, private trucking-fleet operations, packaging, receiving, materials handling, along with plant, warehouse, store location planning, and the integration of information. The goal is to achieve ultimate efficiency in delivering raw materials and parts, both partially and completely finished products to the right place and time in the proper condition. #SupplyChain #Distribution #Logistic #Warehouse #Management

Material control staff in the steelmaking field are responsible for managing the flow of materials, inventory levels, and supply chain processes to ensure smooth and efficient operations. key R&R of material control staff in steelmaking: Monitor and maintain inventory levels of raw materials, consumables, spare parts, and finished products to ensure adequate stock availability for production and customer orders. Implement inventory control techniques such as ABC analysis, economic order quantity (EOQ), and safety stock management to optimize inventory levels while minimizing carrying costs and stockouts. Plan and coordinate procurement of raw materials, alloying elements, fluxes, and other inputs required for steelmaking processes based on production schedules, demand forecasts, and inventory targets. Source materials from approved suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, and ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production requirements and minimize production disruptions. Collaborate with quality control personnel to establish material specifications, quality standards, and acceptance criteria for incoming materials. Inspect, sample, and test incoming materials for quality, compliance with specifications, and suitability for use in steelmaking processes. Coordinate the receipt, storage, and issuance of materials in accordance with safety guidelines, material handling procedures, and inventory management systems. Optimize material flow, storage layout, and warehouse organization to minimize handling costs, reduce lead times, and maximize space utilization. Liaise with production planning, scheduling, and operations teams to ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, and resources for production activities. Coordinate material movements, transfers, and logistics to support production schedules, minimize downtime, and maximize throughput. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and service providers to ensure reliable and cost-effective supply of materials and services. Evaluate supplier performance, conduct vendor assessments, and implement supplier development initiatives to improve quality, delivery, and overall supplier performance. Analyze material consumption patterns, inventory turnover rates, and supply chain performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and (KPIs) related to material control, inventory management, and supply chain operations. Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements in material control and supply chain management. Implement best practices, (SOPs), and lean principles to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and enhance overall material management practices. Overall, material control staff play a critical role in ensuring the availability, quality, and efficient use of materials in steelmaking operations.

This document explains the steps required to configure a system for Production planning in a cross plant set-up. Many members post questions with a bit of variation regarding this scenario. Hopefully this blog will address any current and future queries regarding this topic. Scenario: Cross plant production is one of the key parts of SAP – Production Planning. It is also know as production in an alternative plant. In this document we will use Special procurement types 70 and 80 to address this scenario, thus eliminating the need of doing any transfer postings. Prerequisites – Create Master Data i.e. Material Master (FERT, HALB and ROH) BOM (FERT and HALB) Routing (FERT and HALB) Work Centers HALB will be created in 3350 plant, while FERT and ROH will exist in both plants(3350 and 3300) by extending them through MM01. We will be working on MTS – Make to Stock strategy. https://lnkd.in/dGxmuNd
