Passionate about public health, social justice, wellbeing & equity. Experienced in systems approaches. Connecting the SDH dots. Committed to shaping impact policies for a healthier, more equitable future, w/ WHO Europe.
What a great resource, trying to understand who is the workforce behind providing services identified in the context of the European Child Guarantee. How many are they and how are they doing? Particularly interesting to delve into the health workforce, and while I appreciate a wealth and breadth of professions, including community health workers, one cannot but wonder where are the public health professionals in here (health promotion and disease prevention)? Is nutrition really only about preparing and serving food (at schools)? An example of growing childhood obesity is clearly a sign there's more to it than just eating.. how about obesogenic environments? But all in all, seems like a great resource indeed. 👶 Who provides services for children in Europe? 👩🏫 How many are there in Europe? And, more importantly, how are they? What are their working conditions? These measurements can be difficult to do in the case of the health workforce providing services to children, which goes beyond paediatric services 👨⚕️ 👩⚕️ . It is nevertheless important to measure this adequately, as otherwise we talk about developing "services" in general (which sometimes involves a one off investment in infrastructures) whilst overlooking staff and their needs (which require continuous support). In this working paper, guidance is provided on how to measure all of this. 📖 You can read the working paper on the Eurofound website: https://lnkd.in/e7BEe5Ct

Policy brief launch 12 September. The quote of today evolves around the million dollar question on evidence and impact. It has been interesting to look at this and it is so important that we reach a breakthrough stage soon. The only way we can do that is through very open and inclusive collaboration including field practitioners and going beyond the usual suspect constellations of people and organisations. #NDPCpolicybrief #arts #design #crosssector #collaboration #innovation #evidence #impact #CCS #sustainability #artisansofinnovation #NDPC Johanna Kouzmine-Karavaïeff (Suo)
☝️ The soon-to-be-launched #NDPCpolicybrief aims to support policymakers with an interest in tapping into the potential of arts, culture and creative sector (CCS) through new forms of collaborations with other sectors in society to facilitate innovation, sustainability, wellbeing, and societal and economic value creation. 📥 The Brief will be available for free downloading on the day of the event and sent out to all registered event participants. ❗️ Make sure not to miss out by registering ➡️ https://bit.ly/3JWc8iz

Our founding Director Jon Molver was at the NASCEE conference on Wednesday, moderating a panel discussion with Western Cape Education Department officials Haroon Mohammed and Jacqui/ Jacqueline Boulle on “What makes for effective partnerships with government”. Both shared stories of successful partnerships, highlighting that above all, shared objectives are fundamental to the success of partnerships. Both also helpfully outlined what it is that both parties can bring to effective partnerships. Government needs civil society to contribute: - A deep understanding of the local context - Extensive networks - NPO’s resources and expertise In return, government offers the following: - Access - A substantial platform for growth and scale - Advocacy Finally, our government representatives gave us 3 things civil society should start doing, 2 things we should stop doing, and 1 thing we should keep doing. In their views, NPO’s should: Start - Viewing government as a partner - Talking, and working together collaboratively with other NPO’s - Developing better M&E Stop - Being territorial and competitive - Viewing government as a source of funding Keep on - Telling the human story It was so refreshing to attend and assist at a civil society networking event that had gone to the trouble of inviting government to join. Kudos to NASCEE for leading the way on this, and to Western Cape Education Department for being ready, willing and available to give insightful, honest and helpful feedback to the sector. More collaborative, honest and open sessions like this across sectors will most definitely contribute to us #WorkingBetterTogether, and to a stronger, equitable education system.
