Data Center or REITs, once a niche market, now power our digital age, delivering returns of over 20% in 2020 alone or more. Cultural & Economic Powerhouses 💪: Hip Hop has reshaped global culture, giving a voice to the voiceless and boosting brands like Adidas. Data centers, valued at around $50 billion globally in 2021, are the unsung heroes behind every click, like, and share. Masters of Adaptation 🔄: Just as Hip Hop has reinvented itself from the boom-bap of the 80s to today's trap beats, data centers have transformed from mere storage units to complex ecosystems supporting AI, cloud computing, and more. Great meeting in Chicago "She Runs it" #web3 event with top 100 leading Women in #advertising and #media in Chicago. Met with execs from companies like #google, #experian, #tysonfoods, #ultabeauty and here's what we discussed: 1. We are at an exciting, historic turning point in technology, and need to reframe our thinking beyond the weekly tech "hype" to a macro perspective 2. As leaders in web3, we overestimate how much people understand about the challenge - and opportunity - before us. 3. To shift our focus and take a macro perspective, train more people about #web3 communities, habits, values, and rewards ecosystem 4. #AI has the potential to be a valuable tool for data analytics and segmentation; in exchange, brands need to plan how to reward customer loyalty 5. v#Brands have to map out the value system for each of the communities they serve and identify the platforms, content, and logistics to deliver at scale. 6. #Innovation is no longer strictly brand innovation; it has to come from culture. 7. The youngest generation - aka #VirtualNatives - are upending the future of education, work, play, entertainment, and culture. There are 2 billion of them! 8. Interactive brand IP is a thing; how can we release control to creatives and at the same time contain and channel the enthusiasm? 9. Protecting a brand and trademark issues, disclaimers and other regulatory frameworks for web2 won't work in web3: we need guidance, and soon. 10. Don't sweat the hype! 🎓 No, women don’t want pretty products But we’re 2.8x more likely to buy them for them 👇 🔬 In 11 experiments, scientists found that: People are 2.8x more likely to choose a pretty (but worse quality) product for women (vs for men). But when women choose for themselves they just want high quality useful products (as everyone does). 🧠 Why? - We are strongly biased (both men and women) - Due to how women are portrayed (e.g. in ads) - So expect them to like prettier products - Although that’s not the actual case 📈 How should you apply this? 🌀 Ever notice how Gen Z seems to love the '90s and ‘80s? Be it the comeback of drive-in-cinemas, the popularity of retro cameras or 90s music being played at almost every nightclub. Well, it's not just you – a GWI study found that 15% of Gen Z feel a strong pull to the past, despite never living in those times.   This is called "Anemoia" – nostalgia for a bygone era one never knew.   🔍 We were curious and dug into why Gen Z might feel this way. Here's what we found:   1️⃣ 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀: Gen Z, the digital natives, craves the simpler times before tech took over. 54% of Gen Z find tech overload distracting and want to minimize technology integration in their lives   2️⃣ 𝗔 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀:  According to Cigna International, 91% of 18-to-24-year-olds report being stressed – compared to 84% on average. With rising anxiety levels,  Anemoia provides comfort, a way to find joy amidst the chaos.   3️⃣ 𝗔 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝘂𝘁: With 29% valuing individuality, the '90s offers a unique identity away from today's tech-heavy world. 4️⃣ 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: Raised alongside Millennials, they're likely to hear glorified stories of the past, making them long for times they never experienced.   So for brands, tapping into Gen Z's Anemoia isn't just a throwback – it's a chance to connect with a yearning for uniqueness and comfort.
