Exposed Hugging Face API tokens offered full access to Meta's Llama 2 With more than 1,500 tokens exposed, research highlights importance of securing supply chains in #AI and #ML by Connor Jones The #APItokens of tech giants #Meta, #Microsoft, #Google, #VMware, and more have been found exposed on #HuggingFace, opening them up to potential #supplychainattacks. Researchers at #LassoSecurity found more than 1,500 exposed API tokens on the #opensource #datascience and #machinelearning platform – which allowed them to gain access to 723 organizations' accounts. In the vast majority of cases (655), the exposed tokens had write permissions granting the ability to modify files in account repositories. A total of 77 organizations were exposed in this way, including Meta, #EleutherAI, and #BigScience Workshop - which run the #Llama, #Pythia, and #Bloom projects respectively. https://lnkd.in/ga964qaD

After an exhausting week of hackathons, edge tech and lack of sleep, it is incredible to think what can be achieved in just nine days!  ⁃ 🧑💻 2 Hackathons   ⁃ 🏆 3 First places and 4 honourable mentions    ⁃ 📱 2 Apps with the latest innovations in Privacy Preserving Machine Learning   ⁃ 🌟 First ever ZK ML application on IOS  ⁃ 🗳️ First Privacy-preserving automated voting system  ⁃ 🤩 And most exciting of all, an unimaginable amount of connections and great conversations! Our adventure began at #EthOxford, organised by HomeDAO (kudos for such a great event!). Our project, aimed at leveraging personal data for enhanced privacy and personalisation, earned us the best project award in both the Social and ZK/Cryptography tracks. By analysing user data locally on iPhone, we created a model that predicts personal preferences and behaviours without compromising privacy. Additionally, we used Zero Knowledge Proofs (ZKP) to verify the model predictions, allowing us to use it in mission-critical settings. We have used it to create a pioneering privacy-preserving dating platform. However, with little adjustment, the app can improve credit scoring accuracy or reduce insurance costs. For the next three days, I found myself amidst conferences and meet-ups, delved into Federated Learning and the latest ZKP applications. Thank you to Flower Labs, Antalpha and HomeDAO for this! Then it was time to hack again, at the famous ETHGlobal. We were tired but determined. And managed to snatch another prize from the Ethereum Foundation - for the best innovative Voting Solution! Our app allowed users to delegate voting to their personal AI model to vote on their behalf, ensuring their participation in democratic processes without compromising their privacy. We hope that this will allow us to change how decisions on lower levels are made, allowing more people to participate in what matters to them. To make this happen, we combined the best of privacy-preserving and verifiable machine learning, as well as some plain cryptography. And even though my teammates said the project would take a team of 5 no less than 2 months, we did it in under 36 hours and it (almost) worked!
