Our team went out to dinner recently to celebrate all our momentum & progress. (Staying true to our values by celebrating everything over here!) 🎉🎊 🎉🎊 We ordered a bottle of wine to celebrate & I wasn't expecting to find a leadership lesson in our server's behavior, but something happened when they brought the Cabernet back to the table that I hadn't experienced before. I'm calling it the "equality wine tasting." 🍾 Typically when you order a bottle of wine at a restaurant, it's the person who ordered that gets the first taste. They're the ones that deem it worthy to drink for everyone else at the table & then everyone gets a pour. 🍷 Instead, our server poured everyone on the team a little taste of the wine & after we all remarked how great it was, they then poured a full glass for everyone. 🥂 I just thought it was the best thing ever. What a wonderful, inclusive behavior! It was like, "I want to give you all a taste—that way, you ALL get to choose if this is the wine you want to celebrate with, together." (Which it was, by the way.) 🎉🎉🎉 Such a small thing & I loved it. Everyone has a different palette, so all of us getting an opportunity to try & make sure we were all aligned with the decision made the celebration that much sweeter. And, it's also a great reminder that it helps to have everyone on board with a decision—even when it comes to celebration and recognition. 🙌 #CelebrateEverything #Inclusivity #Celebrations

Agree Richard - this is a plaster over an issue - instead of working on the root causes, finding out why things happen, why the consumer behaves in certain ways and thereby fulfilling a need or service, or changing something or creating something new that is needed or not even thought of yet (as in iPhone for example - we never thought it would be everything in 1). This is a panic response to manage duty and margins and costs and everything. We should be looking at other categories - what's growing, what is trending and WHY and HOW. Wine is complicated I am sure we would all agree and lacking in margin and far too safe in its offering. What we should be doing is having a quarterly innovation workshop or conference including online viewing where we can brainstorm and talk about these, create new opportunities from this, talk to the consumer - using even TikTok if we have to. Everything I open these days on any social media is very anti alcohol - so we have to be aware of this movement as well.

Some of our colleagues in tabletop and food film are secretive or protective of technologies and ideas. As an example, we see food stylists tape off spray cans they use. We see directors that don't allow any Behind The Scenes footage because they're afraid someone copies a lighting style or lens choice. At Chuck Studios we love spilling the beans for simple reasons. Firstly, people who blatantly copy are never a threat to creative craftspeople. Secondly, if someone copies it, it was probably a good idea. And most importantly - we're confident we'll come up with something refreshing and new the next time. In our series 'People Often Ask Us', we unveil little tricks and ideas, for the fun of it. This is me speaking about how we managed to convert an effect created in post production into in-camera pzazz for Miller Genuine Draft. And of course, people don't ask us these things really.
