Purpose and Objectives

Under the direction of Supply Chain/Warehouse leadership, the warehouse supervisor is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and supervising all tasks related to warehouse operations, including the direct supervision of all functional level warehouse employees. The role ensures that processes are managed in a safe manner, complying with established RTP site and global procedures.

Responsibilities

Personnel Administration:

  • Fosters, supports and maintains a Safety and Quality driven work environment for all employees. Reflects a willingness and commitment to support a "Stop Work" philosophy for all safety and quality concerns.
  • Fosters a patient driven mindset within the department.
  • Fosters an inclusive culture in a manner that embraces the ideas and contributions of each employee.
  • Maintains a high level of integrity and sensitivity in the communication of discrete employee and/or company information.
  • Ensures that each employee meets the requirements to perform assigned tasks. Ensures all training requirements associated with each task is complete prior to assigning/performing tasks.
  • Supervise warehouse personnel by providing adequate direction and coaching in order to effectively execute department activities.
  • Exhibits a commitment to Time Management and Right First Time mindsets.
  • Verify and approve work time cards in accordance with Lilly procedures. Monitors employees time to ensure adherence to established attendance policies.
  • Manage vacation requests for area employees and evaluate vacation imp[acts when approved. Performs functional backup planning for all vacation activity.
  • Approve and monitor the use of “overtime” according to business needs.
  • Escalate to Supply Chain/Warehouse leadership and/or Human Resources when personnel situations require action and/or resolution.
  • Effectively manage the performance of direct reports and provide appropriate coaching/development opportunities when required.
  • Support Supply Chain/Warehouse leadership in the effective management of disciplinary actions. Follow up on the action plan of staff with low or unsatisfactory performance execution. Discuss verbal notifications with impacted direct reports when required.
  • Participate with Supply Chain/Warehouse leadership in the determination of merit increases. Provide feedback to Supply Chain/Warehouse leadership and participate in discussions regarding performance evaluations.
  • Recognize teamwork and ensure feedback to warehouse staff as needed.
  • Support the Supply Chain/Warehouse leadership during investigations of incidents/accidents related to warehouse activities.
  • Listen, manage and channel employee suggestions in a timely manner. Function as a first level employee advocate.
  • Support Supply Chain/Warehouse leadership in the process of staff recruitment including review of resumes, conducting interviews, etc.
  • Edit, approve and review job descriptions for each functional role.
  • Participate in Human Resource management activities as required.


Training

  • Review and assign employee Computer Based Training curricula where required.
  • Ensure all employees are current with required training necessary to execute assigned tasks.
  • Provide training to the operators of your shift as necessary in accordance with the documented plan.
  • Coordinate time within each employees shift in order to complete/participate in training sessions.
  • Coordinate training requirements and schedules with site Learning & Development resources when necessary.


Compliance

  • Promote a culture of compliance, ensuring department compliance of site Quality, HSE and Global policies.
  • Monitor execution, observe practices vs. procedures, provide feedback to staff and escalate for resolution as required.
  • Ensure GDP practices are maintained within the department at all times.
  • Participate in audits with designated site representatives when required. Ensure requested audit actions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and distribute cleaning tasks in accordance with site cleaning procedures.
  • Ensure that assigned EHS inspections are completed in a timely manner


Deviation Resolution

  • Identify and communicate deviation events within the department. Report any quality, process or safety event in a timely manner. Escalate situations to Supply Chain/Warehouse Leadership as required.
  • Take immediate corrective action in the event of any situation during your work shift, following established procedures.
  • Generate events (Quality, EHS) in the QMS/Trackwise system.
  • Participate in event investigations and root cause analysis activities.
  • Actively participate in emergency response and readiness situations (where trained) including medical response, evacuation activities, power failures, inclement weather preparation activities.


Routine Operations

  • Monitor automation functionality to ensure the safe and effective operation of ASRS & AGV equipment.
  • Attend and/or lead department meetings. Provide information on equipment or process step performance, including status of special activities.
  • Ensure that process data is collected, maintained and monitored on a daily basis and escalate when required.
  • Communicate with maintenance personnel to plan and execute routine and emergency maintenance activities.
  • Monitor process documentation. Complete and/or review paperwork before ending your each shift.
  • Coordinate operational support requirements with site functional areas.
  • Maintain direct communication with department leadership on all technical and administrative aspects within the department.
  • Ensure inventory integrity is maintained by the accurate storage and movement of materials into and out of the department. Materials should be monitored for appropriate temperature storage and all TOR exposure will be documented accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain process strategies to ensure compliance with the production plan.
  • Manage department hazardous waste as required.


Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of a 2-Year post high school education is required.
  • Minimum of 5 Years experience in a pharmaceutical environment is required.
  • Minimum of 2 Years in a Supply Chain, Warehousing and/or Logistics environment is required.


Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Experience utilizing ERP systems in the receipt, shipment and internal controls of semi-finished and finished goods within a GMP environment (SAP, EWM Preferred).
  • Experience in the documentation and investigation of nonconforming events within a QMS system (Trackwise).


Tools, Machinery, Equipment, Materials

  • Use of computer, printer, photocopier, general office supplies, telephone, fax, file system, manuals, catalogs and calculators. Protection and safety equipment such as: uniform, gowns, masks, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves and coats. Motorized equipment and/or forklift.


Physical Demands

  • Industrial level work that requires physical effort, operation of material handling equipment (MHE) and functional tools (bolt cutters, band cutters, strapping tools). It also requires communication skills and the ability exhibit hand-eye coordination in the execution of manual skills. It involves body movements such as: bending, climbing, reaching, going up and down stairs. It also requires visual acuity, near and medium level vision.


Mental Dexterity

  • Ability to be alert, coordinate, detect, diagnose, evaluate, influence, instruct, interpret, read, plan, organize and articulate as required. Capacity to establish positive interpersonal relationships and interact with people, work on several issues at the same time within a challenging environment, work within short time constraints, exercise good judgment in sensitive situations, make decisions, and work with minimal direct supervision.


Language Requirements

  • Fluency in the comprehension (verbal and written) and speech of the English language.
