About Salesforce

We’re Salesforce, the Customer Company, inspiring the future of business with AI+ Data +CRM. Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way. And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too — driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world. If you believe in business as the greatest platform for change and in companies doing well and doing good – you’ve come to the right place.

Slack is looking for a Product Leader for our Platform team. This person will lead the team responsible for guiding the design, development, and delivery of the landscape of capabilities that surround the ability for developers to build, deploy and run integrations with the Slack Platform. This is critical to Slack’s overall business as we look to expand our revenue through usage-based platform offerings.

Slack’s Platform makes it easier for people to get work done by connecting the tools they use every day with Slack. This role requires a desire to deeply understand the capabilities of the platform, the wide variety of integrations that have been built by our over 1,000,000 developers, and the breadth of use cases across all of our customers (from startups to Fortune 100 companies) including security and compliance requirements.

We are looking for a Product Leader who can continuously up-level our team and platform user journeys. This role is perfect for leaders who take a portfolio-oriented product strategy, have an ownership mentality for driving impact, are data-informed to find insights, focus on developer empathy and product craft, and love to constantly see how much faster we can learn and execute. This person should thrive in managing and developing PM teams, and enjoy driving bold new bets themselves when needed.

As hundreds of millions of people are moving seemingly overnight to work in this new hybrid remote world, this area’s critical mission is to build capabilities for integration-based product experiences that make the working lives of people using Slack for the first time simpler, more pleasant, and more productive.

Slack has a positive, diverse, and supportive culture—we look for people who are curious, inventive, and work to be a little better every single day. In our work together we aim to be smart, humble, hardworking and, above all, collaborative. If this sounds like a good fit for you, why not say hello?

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for leading the product vision for the platform capabilities in order to connect with a wide range of work tools, driving the product roadmap, and execution of the Platform Team.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of Product Managers to execute on specific parts of the vision as it relates to our Core APIs, Block Kit (UI framework), Interactivity, Authentication, and Developer Environments.
  • Represent the needs of Developers (both external and internal) company-wide, while also representing Slack to customers & partners.
  • Drive execution against our plan in collaboration with Engineering and Design peers: making tradeoffs, managing the workflow with engineering leaders and design, driving execution and anticipating risks
  • Work closely with the Developer Relations, Partner Engineering, and Business Development teams to ensure that our developer community is educated, engaged, and their needs are met.
  • Communicate directly with many of our largest and most popular development partners: whether it is interfacing directly with other top SaaS organizations, or Slack first app developers, to understand their use cases, how their systems are architected, and how best we can create products that drive meaningful value to both our developers and our mutual customers.
  • You understand how teams learn quickly; high comfort with rapid prototyping, incremental shipping to deliver value to users, while also knowing the need to deliver a stable API to our developers. You ensure we ship well-crafted products at a timely pace.
  • Accelerate the pace of shipping and learning, while keeping our product quality bar high.
  • Help shape Slack’s product development process while we grow, as part of the product leadership team.

What You Should Have

  • 15+ years of product management and product leadership experience
  • A consistent track record of product management leadership in rapidly growing organizations.
  • Genuine self-starter who proactively identifies challenges/opportunities and works across the team to generate and execute solutions.
  • Experience leading developer APIs, frameworks, and deployment environments.
  • Experience building and leading product teams, including managing and developing people.
  • Experience working with third-party partners on technology and product-based partnerships.
  • Portfolio-oriented product approach for balancing bold, high-upside bets with quick wins.
  • Highly technical and capable of wading into the details, but can also drive from 30,000-foot view.
  • Data-informed and experiment-driven style to optimize for learning.
  • Deep customer empathy and product craft to sweat the Little Big Details.
  • Ability to juggle dozens of projects, big and small, while driving relentless product execution.
  • Deeply curious with a need to understand “why” - a person with “strong opinions, loosely held”
  • Excellent executive presence and resilience to embrace a deep level of engagement from senior leadership, including the CEO, CTO, CPO, and CFO.
  • Ability to adjust direction rapidly, learning what levers are most effective.
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate to non-technical and technical audiences with ease.
  • You are a talent magnet for people who want to collaborate with and work for you.
  • Ownership mentality from what we build to how we market. Accountability for driving business
  • impact, in an experiment-driven product culture, ideally in developer products, Hybrid SMB or Consumer Growth.
