Job Description: As the Vice President of Human Resources / Chief People Officer, you will play a critical role in shaping and driving the people strategy of our client's organization. We seek an accomplished HR leader with a deep understanding of the retail industry to spearhead the development of people experience programs, benefits administration, labor relations, high-volume recruiting, and employee leadership development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement People Experience Programs: Bring innovation and excitement to employee experiences by designing and implementing programs that foster engagement, satisfaction, and vibrant work culture. Create initiatives such as employee recognition programs, wellness campaigns, learning and development opportunities, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Benefits Administration: Oversee and optimize the administration of employee benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive, comprehensive, and aligned with the needs of a retail workforce. Collaborate with HR and external partners to streamline benefits enrollment and management processes.
  • Labor Relations: Foster positive labor relations by establishing and maintaining open communication channels between the company and its employees. Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations while cultivating a respectful and inclusive work environment.
  • High-Volume Recruiting: Lead a high-performing recruiting team, leveraging cutting-edge technology tools to attract and hire top talent. Utilize data-driven approaches to drive recruitment metrics, meet hiring goals, and enhance the employer brand. Continuously optimize recruitment processes to ensure a seamless candidate experience.
  • Employee Leadership Development: Cultivate a culture of leadership excellence by designing and implementing programs that nurture and develop employee talent. Provide coaching and mentorship to managers, empowering them to build high-performing teams and drive exceptional results. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Strategic HR Leadership: Collaborate closely with the executive team as a strategic partner, providing insights and guidance on people-related matters. Develop and execute HR strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives. Drive initiatives that support company growth and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Tech-Driven Metrics and Results: Utilize technology tools and analytics to drive metrics, measure the effectiveness of HR programs, and optimize processes. Stay up to date with HR technology trends and best practices, implementing innovative solutions to enhance HR operations.

Requirements

  • Retail Industry Experience: A minimum of 15+ years of experience in HR leadership roles within the retail industry. Demonstrated knowledge of the retail landscape, including its unique challenges, trends, and opportunities.
  • People Experience Expertise: Proven success in developing and implementing people experience programs that enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Strong knowledge of benefits administration and labor relations within the retail industry.
  • High-Volume Recruiting: Track record of leading high-performing recruiting teams, utilizing technology tools and data-driven approaches to attract and hire top talent. Proficiency in recruitment platforms and analytics is essential.
  • Employee Leadership Development: Passion for fostering employee growth and leadership development. Experience coaching and mentoring managers to drive a high-performance culture and build effective teams.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: Possess an entrepreneurial mindset and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Demonstrate resilience and an ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Advanced HR certifications are a plus.
  • Experience multi-state and working with Unions
