Our client is a provider of erosion control products and services with locations in Parker and Broomfield, CO and serves customers within the Denver metropolitan area. The Company works with builders in the residential, commercial, and municipal segment to ensure that their sites are compliant with stormwater codes, which ensures that local communities are protected from pollutants and debris from development sites. Our client is passionate about protecting the environment in which we live and carries this vision forward daily in its interactions with employees, customers, and the community. The Company is one of the largest and fastest growing erosion control service providers in the Front Range and is looking to build its team as it continues to grow throughout Colorado and other states.


Situation Overview

Our client is a market leader in its region and well capitalized to initiate an aggressive growth plan. In conjunction with this growth plan, the current owner and CEO is looking to transition from her day-to-day responsibilities to focus more on business development and strategic initiatives of the Company. It is envisioned that the Vice President of Operations would assume many of these day-to-day responsibilities while working alongside the rest of the executive team. By handling many of the day-to-day operations the Vice President of Operations would help the company scale to the next level and ensure the Company’s long-term success for employees, customers, and community.


Reporting

The Vice President of Operations will report directly to the Company’s current owner and CEO alongside the Company’s executive team which includes the Project Managers and VP of Finance. Direct reports will initially include the Director of Safety and Purchasing, the Fleet Manager, and potentially a new human resources lead.


Job Description:

The Vice President of Operations will manage overall operations, including human resources, productivity, quality control and safety measures as established and set for the Company.


Operations

  • Establish company-wide operational policies and procedures to achieve financial and operating targets set by CEO and board.
  • Serve as the lead interface between all functional areas of the business, including the management of ever-changing 24/7 needs of the Company’s customers
  • Conduct 1-1 daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with field management staff and safety lead. Ensure efficient yard and warehouse operation through oversight of vehicle and equipment purchases and disposals, including safety spot checks, repairs as well as maintenance of buildings and ground, and management of company mechanics.
  • Approve large material purchasing and inventory as necessary, and also ensure that field crews have required tools and supplies for daily projects.
  • Collaborate with estimator and project managers to make “go/no-go” decisions on certain projects.


People

  • Lead all facets related to continuing to build a world-class team to serve growth in demand.
  • Formalize and lead training programs for both new and existing hires to drive employee retention and ongoing satisfaction.
  • Manage existing operations and certain corporate staff, including setting and evaluating performance goals.
  • Work with safety manager to maintain and improve a top-tier safety program.
  • Periodically visit crews on site to ensure quality control and safety.


Qualifications

  • Management experience within a construction and/or environmental services industry.
  • 10+ years of hands-on operations or field experience, preferably in stormwater or erosion control industry.
  • Effective in a dynamic culture – The Company prides itself on putting customer demands first.
  • Able to work comfortably under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ties to Colorado and a desire to be there for the long term.


Travel Requirements

The role is based in Parker, CO, and there will be local travel required to job sites from time to time.
