Clever is looking for a Vice President of Sales who will drive the next chapter of growth at Clever. In this role, the VP of Sales will lead and inspire the teams that acquire new customers for both sides of our ecosystem–schools and edtech applications.

You’ll set the strategy for global new business growth while providing a sales experience that turns customers into advocates. Your commitment to operational excellence will support the attainment of our business goals and the professional growth of your teams. You will contribute meaningfully to Clever’s go-to-market strategy and collaborate with executives across the company


A DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Create the vision and plan to grow our new business revenue, leading the sales teams who serve our two distinct customers, school districts and edtech applications
  • Develop the strategic and operational plans for Clever’s global sales growth.
  • Foster a high performance organization and a sales culture aligned with our mission and values
  • Recruit, develop, and retain sales talent, providing career development and opportunities for individual growth
  • Build strong relationships with customers and prospects. Become a subject matter expert in Clever’s product, space and industry
  • Determine the key operating metrics and practices designed to support achievement of our revenue goals and manage to them
  • Coach the team in developing healthy pipelines and closing new business: outbound prospecting, strategic sales cycles, account strategy and planning, and cross-selling
  • Directly participate in closing deals with strategic accounts; align and leverage internal resources to develop, and close key accounts
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Customer Success, Business Development, Marketing, and Finance) on strategy and key initiatives to drive new logo acquisition


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 10+ years of sales experience with a proven track record of attaining new business targets
  • Domain experience selling to K12 school districts is required
  • 5+ years of sales leadership experience; the ability to recruit, lead, motivate, and coach high performance internal and field sales teams
  • Understands how to build diverse teams and demonstrates an equitable and inclusive leadership style
  • Demonstrated success in building strategic customer relationships at the C level
  • Strong customer EQ, can understand customer problems and needs as though they were in their shoes
  • Skilled driver of operational excellence in sales: structuring enterprise deals, negotiating complex deals, forecasting, creating meaningful KPIs, and more
  • A collaborative executive peer and partner to other internal functional leaders and organizations
  • A passion for learning and helping people achieve their goals both within the Clever customer base and within the company itself
  • Willing to travel up to ~30%
