Established real estate owner and developer is seeking a dynamic leader with strong managerial skills and technical expertise in accounting, particularly in commercial real estate, property management, and lending. Reporting directly to ownership, the ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of ownership's global perspective and will play a pivotal role in directing and fulfilling the company's financial strategies and reporting requirements. This role demands a proactive approach to managing accounting operations and driving organizational success through financial stewardship and strategic insight.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise various accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, capital contributions and distributions, equity schedules, and accruals.
  • Manage the financial administration of the commercial property portfolio, including cash management, loan compliance, banking relationships, investor reporting, accounting audits, and partnership distributions.
  • Develop and implement departmental procedures, processes, and systems to support both immediate needs and long-term objectives.
  • Coordinate with banks, tax preparers, and other stakeholders to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of internal financial statements for department heads and senior management.
  • Lead and motivate the accounting team to achieve timely financial statement closings on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Partnering with external accounting partners, and assist in preparing year-end financial statements for CPAs and entity tax returns.
  • Oversee loan payments and compliance.
  • Maintain accounting guidelines and controls to ensure transactional accuracy and completeness.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for the accounting staff, providing guidance on standards and delegating tasks effectively.
  • Offer recommendations to ownership and department heads to enhance efficiency in accounting and reporting processes.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related Business field.
  • 7+ years’ experience in Property Management, specifically Class A commercial office.
  • Progressive experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller.
  • Experience in a family office is preferred.
  • Experience in a public accounting firm, or responsible for multiple clients, privately held real estate or growth business is preferred.
  • Must possess experience of total accounting responsibility in a multi-entity real estate environment
  • Proficiency in Yardi, Excel, Outlook, and related accounting systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop staff.
  • Organized, results driven, ability to prioritize multiple deliverables and achieve results.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and collaborate.
  • Self-directed, deadline driven and a strategic solutions-oriented thinker.
