What's the Job?

As a Vice President on our team, you will have a hand in shaping the evolving investment strategy of the firm.  You will play a key role in developing the processes, systems and analysis around the identification, assessment, valuation, and selection of prospective investments of the firm.  This role will extend to cover management of the business strategy, value creation exit planning/execution of the investments in the firm’s portfolio as well as the vetting, selection and management of talent leading the businesses in the portfolio.


You will be a key driver of the following activities:

  • Identifying, selecting and determining the valuation of quality investment opportunities, 
  • Conducting financial and industry due diligence on prospective investments and monitoring portfolio companies, 
  • Participate in driving portfolio company strategic planning and exit strategy, and
  • The identification, selection and development of talent, especially the Search Fund Entrepreneurs we partner with and the CEO’s of the companies we invest in.


This role requires strong financial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


Location: Boston, Dallas and/or Remote


Key Responsibilities: 


Entrepreneur Partner (Searcher) + CEO Selection:

  • Participate in driving superior selection of high quality entrepreneur partners/CEO’s in the traditional search and principal investing segments

Deal Sourcing and Screening:

  • Identify potential investment opportunities by networking with business owners and intermediaries,  attending industry conferences, and conducting market research.
  • Screen and evaluate potential investment opportunities based on alignment with the firm's investment strategy and criteria..

Due Diligence:

  • Lead due diligence efforts on prospective investments, including financial analysis, market research, and legal review.
  • Assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis) of target companies.
  • Evaluate potential risks and mitigating strategies.

Valuation and Acquisition Structure Determination/Validation:

  • Perform valuation analyses, such as LBO Model valuation, comparable company analysis (CCA), and precedent transaction analysis.
  • Assess/participate in the derivation of the capital structure of proposed acquisitions including senior, Unitranch and mezzanine debt, seller notes, equity capital and earn out components.  

Market Research and Industry Analysis:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Conduct research to support investment decisions and strategies

Financial Modeling and Analysis:

  • Create detailed financial models to support business plan development and assess the financial viability of potential investments.
  • Analyze historical and projected financial statements to assess growth potential and profitability.

Investment Recommendations:

  • Prepare investment memoranda and presentations for the firm's investment committee, highlighting the investment thesis, financial analysis, and value creation potential.
  • Provide recommendations on potential investments based on thorough analysis.

Portfolio Management:

  • Monitor the performance of portfolio companies relative to original business plan expectations, assess their financial health and operational progress.
  • Identify opportunities for value creation and develop strategies to enhance portfolio company performance.

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient deal execution and portfolio management.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a demonstrated command of related topics 
  • MBA preferred
  • 7-10 years of cumulative relevant experience in private equity related fields, potentially to include stints in investment banking and/or management consulting.
  • Demonstrated ability and related track record in identifying, evaluating, valuing and consummating equity investment opportunities that deliver strong operating performance and ultimate returns.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and other third party resources (e.g. Pitchbook, Bloomberg, Capital IQ).
  • Knowledge of relevant industry sectors and markets.
