Job Title: Vehicle Durability Engineer (Automotive OEM)

aka Vehicle Development Engineer - Durability Focus

Position Type: Direct-Hire

Location: Montgomery, AL

Shift: 1st (6:30AM - 4:45PM) - 1.5x overtime after 40 hrs/week

Salary Range: $60k - $85k

Relocation Provided


Position Summary:

Responsible for the Durability Program of new model and current production vehicles in an automotive manufacturing environment. Degree preferred but not required – ASE certified mechanics will be favored. Candidates will assist with durability programs, tear down analysis, part improvements, etc. Individuals will be executing tear down analysis (complete down to shell of the vehicle body) to improve new model development stages. Complete Issue Investigations and provide feedback for overall vehicle design improvements. Parts analysis and review. Must be familiar with vehicle assembly and disassembly - common tools used & methods to investigate new model launch vehicles.


Essential Functions:

  • Plan and coordinate 3rd Party Durability Testing by communicating details of the vehicle build plan and vehicle testing schedule.
  • Plan and coordinate CPG [Components parts group] Durability Testing by communicating details of vehicle build plan.
  • Perform initial investigation on all Durability Related issues from either 3rd Party or CPG.
  • Report all durability related issues to responsible Quality Improvement Team(s), AQIP, PQ, HATCI, and Suppliers. (3rd Party & CPG Testing).
  • Prepare and coordinate vehicle teardown events with responsible suppliers and groups.
  • Continuously follow up on durability related issues with responsible suppliers and groups.
  • Track countermeasure and improvement activities.
  • Create summary reports as necessary to monitor process and progress (weekly, final, and coordination of each stage meeting).
  • Keep and manage a tracking system to monitor all durability vehicle progress through the program (beginning to end).
  • Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned.


Position Requirements:

Education

  • ASE certified mechanics will be favored.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred, not required.


Related Experience

  • 2 - 5 years of job-related experience preferred.

Additional Information:

Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
