Technical Writing Intern

Job Description

Our Technical Writing Intern works with the product management team on developing, writing, and editing material for manuals, installation instructions and related technical and administrative publications in print or electronic media that are to be included for shipment with products manufactured by business unit.

This position will serve our Air Conditioning Division, located in Lewisville, Texas. This position is a part time role, working roughly 15-20 hours per week while in school (additional hours available during breaks) and requires some in-person interaction. This is not a “summer-only” internship.

Responsibilities

• Support development, documentation, technical literature (specifications, parts, accessories) and commercialization plans to support the launch of new product development.
• Participate in weekly projects meetings for projects/products.
• Assists with identification of necessary materials and resource requirements to Engineering Management as to what will be required to meet the schedule.
• Perform competitive benchmarking, through web and print data collection and database creation for product categories.
• Compose text, format, and arrange the content of all information in a professional and technically accurate and legible presentation easily readable and understandable by the end user.
• Maintains a log of all informational materials produced, revised, and reprinted by Technical Writing Department for the purpose of ready recall.
• Performs other duties as assigned
  
  

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field.
• Interest or experience in product marketing/product design/technical writing
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and computer skills (Excel, Power Point, Word)
