Overview

As the Senior Vice President, General Merchandise Manager (SVP, GMM), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and success of our retail business. You will lead the overall merchandising strategy by developing the vision of multiple categories, driving revenue growth that aligns with the top-line financial plan, maximizing profitability, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience across all product categories. This senior executive position requires a dynamic and progressive leader with proven expertise in merchandising and strategic leadership maintaining a customer-centric approach while holding teams accountable for delivering sales and profit objectives.


What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute comprehensive merchandising strategies aligned with the company's overall objectives.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance customer experience, increase market share, and meet financial targets.
  • Oversee the selection and procurement for all product categories, ensuring alignment with brand positioning and target audience.
  • Manage pricing strategies to optimize sales performance and margin goals.
  • Cultivate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of merchandising initiatives and drive operational excellence, including inventory management, supply chain optimization, and merchandising system enhancements.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, and exclusive partnerships.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and make strategic decisions regarding assortment, product development, and sourcing strategies.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing merchandising team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to build bench strength and ensure succession planning.
  • Establish clear goals, KPIs, and performance metrics to track team and individual performance.
  • Monitor financial performance metrics, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed to drive profitability.
  • Streamline merchandising processes and workflows to improve efficiency, speed to market, and product availability.


Skills You Will Need


Strategy Development: Ability to develop a forward-thinking vision for multiple categories and execute assortment plans across channels in alignment with financial goals. Capable of setting and communicating strategic visions for location and channel-based strategies to support overall company growth.

Financial Business Acumen: Exceptional understanding of financial metrics and profit drivers, with the capacity to effectively manage a significant P&L.

Merchandising Expertise: Strong comprehension of merchandising principles and strategies to drive sales and enhance customer experience.

Leadership Skills: Demonstrated inspirational leadership, capable of building and leading large teams to achieve business objectives.

Partnership Building: Proficiency in establishing and maintaining robust partnerships both within the organization and externally.

Proactive Approach: Ability to take proactive measures to drive business results and navigate changing market dynamics.

Omni Business Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of Omni business operations, including marketing strategies, staffing, and financial management.

Customer-Centric Focus: Progressive experience in consumer and lifestyle-oriented companies with a focus on creating emotional connections with customers.

Market Analysis: Skill in understanding market share opportunities, competitive landscape, and leveraging business trends and customer data.

Transformational Leadership: Dynamic leadership style with a passion for driving organizational change and leading teams through ambiguity.

Talent Development: Track record of advocating for talent development and building engaged and highly functional teams.

Collaborative Communication: Strong ability to establish trust and build relationships across all levels and functions of the organization and with external partners.
