Student Success Manager - Student Teacher, Boston

The Student Success Manager (Teacher) is responsible for co-leading instruction for 3 student cohorts during the Flare Education high school workforce development program. This role will work closely with the entire program team - specifically, the Director of Student Success - to ensure students are achieving anticipated outcomes as they progress through the program. This role will be managed and supervised by the Director of Student Success. 


You will help implement our Cohort 4 program running from October, 2024 to September 2025. Our center is in Roxbury (56 Warren Street Suite #200, Boston, MA, 02119). You will be expected to be in our space on a combination of Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (along with all-team onsites) throughout the school year. When our program team works Saturdays, Mondays are taken off. During the summer months (late June, July, and August), you will be expected to be in the space 5 days a week as students complete partner-sponsored internships.


Otherwise, this position will be remote (work-from-home).


In this role, you will:


  • Manage student success strategy and operations; be accountable to associated program OKRs 
  • Manage core operational and administrative tasks tied to student participants
  • Manage student relationships and programmatic elements
  • Play to key role alongside our Director of Student Success to achieve intended outcomes (student success)
  • Provide strategic guidance and feedback as we improve our student success strategy and operations


Your critical tasks include:


  • Serve as the teacher (instruction lead) for students in a cohort-based model
  • Develop curriculum and other training, mentorship, and pedagogical materials associated with the program
  • Manage core student operational and administrative tasks associated with student success, including: training session implementation, student communication and engagement, and volunteer engagement
  • Co-manage student and stakeholder interactions with guidance from our Director of Student Success
  • Manage student logistics throughout the program experience
  • Keep senior management informed with detailed and accurate reports or presentations


An ideal candidate has:


  • 1+ years of experience teaching students from underserved communities
  • Intellectual curiosity with an ability to learn quickly
  • Concise communication skills
  • A positive attitude in a rapidly changing environment with ambiguous information
  • Experience hiring, growing, and retaining great talent 
  • Bias towards action

Total compensation is determined and at the discretion of the Flare Education Chief Executive Officer.
