This role is 80% my SQL development, shell and bash. 20% MY SQL DBA work
Development DBA type.
Pure Production DBA won’t work, because they lack the development skills.
We are currently seeking a database administrator with experience in defining and administering database solutions in a distributed application environment. Candidates should have extensive hands-on database administration experience and be well versed in industry standard database design practices and administration processes. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential and candidates should be self-directed and motivated to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
Major Responsibilities Include
Logical and physical database design of systems, including OLTP, data warehousing and business intelligence
Administration of a relational databases (MySQL) and a NoSQL databases (time-series preferred)
Hands-on development of ETL, internal/external data feeds and reporting solutions
Support of critical production systems, including off-hours support
Qualifications
Deep experience in database design, data modeling, capacity planning, performance tuning,
archival and backup/recovery processes and disaster recovery design across
multiple RDBMS platforms.
MySQL is a must
Oracle, SQL Server are pluses
Expertise with time series databases such as OneTick or KDB is a major plus
Experience with a business intelligence tool such as Business Objects or similar
Advanced SQL knowledge
Good knowledge of Linux/UNIX and Shell Scripting
Extensive hands on database administration and development experience
Experience with very large data warehouse systems is a plus
Well versed in industry standard architecture design methodologies and processes
Strong written and oral communication skills
Self-directed and motivated to work in a fast paced team-oriented environment
Education And Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering
Five plus years of experience using RDBMS technologies to build large-scale business applications
Financial industry experience is a plus
