SQL Reporting Analyst

Watson’s, one the largest home recreation retailers in the USA, is expanding its IT department and seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical SQL Reporting Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in SQL, data analysis, and reporting to support business decision-making processes across our corporate and franchise stores. As a SQL Reporting Analyst, you will play a crucial role in analyzing sales, inventory, and customer data to derive actionable insights that will drive our business strategy and improve our operational efficiency. In addition to technical skills, one must have the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time well. It is critical that the individual in this role be able to effectively communicate the results of their analysis’. This is a full-time position, non-remote position, working Monday through Friday (or whatever is required to get the job done). Some evening or weekends may periodically be required.

 

JOB OVERVIEW:

 

The Reporting Analyst will play a pivotal role in providing insights that aid in setting and guiding organizational strategy and operational decisions through the meticulous analysis of data and the creation of insightful reports. The Reporting Analyst will be responsible for mining and synthesizing data, presenting their findings to management, offering recommendations to guide business strategy and more. This role will use a data-first approach to support all functions of the Watson’s organization from Buying and Sales, to Service, Warehouse and Marketing. The core, functional responsibilities of this role will fall under the following areas:

 

  • Data management
  • Data analysis
  • Data and report visualization design

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage Storis (ERP) data utilized for reporting and analysis.
  • Work with Executive and Departmental leadership on data strategies and needs.
  • Develop and implement systems for business analysis and data management across all departments and stores.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of databases through regular maintenance and updates.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of data reports to identify and correct errors.
  • Gather and analyze data meticulously for the creation of diverse business reports.
  • Generate insightful business reports highlighting critical data points.
  • Present findings from data analyses to management teams in both written and verbal formats.
  • Assist all departments such as marketing and sales in achieving their objectives by providing analytical support.
  • Proactively track and analyze data to detect shifts in financial and business trends.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, information systems or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience as a financial or business analysis (Retail industry experience preferred, but not required)
  • Advanced skills in SQL and Microsoft Excel, among other software programs
  • Experience in SAP, object-oriented programming and other data analysis programs
  • Experience with ERP systems (Storis and AS400 experience preferred, but not required)
  • Analytical skills that allow for the development of data-driven reports
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize projects to meet deadlines
  • Ability to use SQL and Microsoft Excel to create pivot tables, graphs and charts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively relate data to coworkers
  • Excellent critical thinking skills to help solve business problems and make decisions
  • Tendency to pay close attention to small details that could impact results
  • General knowledge of business operations, objectives, strategies, process and information flow


This position is on-site at our Evendale, OH office.
