The opportunity:

Flexport’s Demand & Commercial Business Unit team mission is to enable a highly efficient, predictable and transparent supply chain by building a robust data network between the Flexport core platform and our customer, supplier and carrier systems.

As a Solutions Engineer, you are a crucial link between what Flexport Omnichannel offers and what our merchants are looking for. We’re taking into account the many intricacies that make our merchants unique and that’s where you come in. Think kitting, SLAs, warehouse systems, APIs, branding, data and a whole lot more. It’s your job to understand the big picture from the perspective of Flexportand then apply that to the individual needs of our merchants. It’s a job that requires exceptional communication skills, technical knowledge and most of all, the strong desire to help our merchants succeed.

It’s a role that will have you talking to both internal teams within Flexport (pre and post sales), the merchants we represent and potentially integration partners, all, in order to provide merchants with an exceptional warehousing and fulfillment experience.

Here are the sort of things you’ll be doing if you join this team:

  • Vetting Fulfillment deals on their operational and technical merit culminating in an approval for pricing or regrets
  • Working with Operations, Product, the merchant and all other pertinent Flexport teams to bring confidence to deals
  • Continuous improvement on all aspects of our role and the overall growth of our product offering
  • Provide feedback and insight to the sales team on best practices, features and requirements while maintaining the knowledge management database as an owner

You will:

  • Become a technical expert in logistics space and develop a deep understanding of Flexport’s platform
  • Participate in customer/partner calls, understanding their requirements and articulating Flexport’s platform, API capabilities, Sales Channels / Marketplaces / Listing Tools and integration pathways
  • Develop an understanding of different data standards and formats like API, EDI, Rosettanet, XML, JSON etc. being used by our enterprise partners for logistics data
  • Design robust and scalable integration solutions which are repeatable and easily supportable.
  • Work closely with Flexport’s Product and Engineering teams, proactively surfacing technical gaps between customer asks and Flexport’s current service and technical capabilities, and collaborate closely to address them.
  • Partner with Sales and Operations to help answer customer questions and scope the technical effort required to build integration solutions.

You should have:

  • Minimum 5 years of software or technology experience with a minimum of 2 years experience designing and supporting B2B integrations.
  • Experience in Logistics or Ecommerce. Ideally within pre-sales, solution design or support.
  • Confidence to be customer-facing and solve complex problems, quickly.
  • Ability to learn and pivot quickly in an ever-changing industry.
  • Knowledge of how web APIs, Warehouse Management Systems & Enterprise Resource Planning systems all come together to create supply chains.
  • Understanding of warehouse operations
  • Strong troubleshooting & analytical skills
  • Familiarity with and comfort level to manage knowledge management systems
  • A good understanding of database concepts and fluency in SQL
  • Prior experience designing and deploying robust programmatic integrations with APIs in a production environment.
  • A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry.

Extra points for:

  • Direct ecommerce experience with Shopify, Walmart, Amazon, TikTok, etc.
  • Previous experience with fulfillment operations or the 3PL space.
  • Experience with integrating SaaS and on-prem ERP, Fulfillment, Order Management, or Warehouse Management systems
  • Experience leading technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders, including customers’ technical teams and their system integrators.
  • Prior experience building EDI integrations is a huge plus.
