We are hiring Server Administrator 2 - DIRECT HIRE for one of our clients in Salem, OR.

Job Description

  • Perform first-line triage and support of our cloud, server, storage, and hypervisor.
  • Assist in the monitoring, management, and maintenance of the data center infrastructure.
  • Maintain asset management for data center infrastructure.
  • Assist in performing project work with the other staff within the infrastructure team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general supervision of an Information Technology Supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews work for conformance to technical and department standards and in compliance with department goals.
  • SUPERVISION EXERCISED Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification.
  • Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following Infrastructure Administration Maintains responsibility for the implementation, documentation, and decommissioning of infrastructure and services that are assigned, that meets applicable goals and objectives as defined by business and departmental objectives.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains the standards, processes, procedures, of how the infrastructure is monitored, managed, and maintained.
  • Collaborates with project managers and technical services teams to identify and mitigate problems and incidents with the infrastructure and services that are assigned.
  • Monitor, Manage, and Maintain Technologies Maintains responsibility for the monitoring, management, and maintenance of the infrastructure that they are assigned.
  • Monitors infrastructure for performance, capacity, and other potential risks.
  • Manages the infrastructure ensuring that the configuration, capacity, security, and availability requirements are met, and exceptions are documented.
  • Maintains the infrastructure through proactive patching, lifecycle replacement and routine maintenance.
  • Ensures that maintenance downtime is communicated to all appropriate personnel and change management procedures are followed.
  • Infrastructure Support Provides technical support for the infrastructure assigned.
  • Collaborates with Support Operations, Development, and our customers to ensure that infrastructure related incidents and problems are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provides support for technical teams through documentation, guides, and acts as a subject matter expert for the infrastructure they are assigned.
  • Participates in on-call rotation for after-hours infrastructure support.
  • Other Job Duties Participates in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills Required

  • Basic working knowledge of Windows and Novell local area networks;
  • Network installations including hardware and software;
  • Switches, routers and wireless devices;
  • Internet and intranet-based applications;
  • Research and analysis concepts and techniques;
  • Project management and general planning concepts. Skill and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Convey technical and complex information to staff;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve client/user concerns and operational problems;
  • Perform pc, printer, and network installations;
  • Rack and cable switches, routers, and servers under the supervision of na3 or supervisor; train and direct others in use of system;
  • Coordinate and implement projects of a minor nature;
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with system users and other county personnel.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Operates a motor vehicle;
  • Sees using depth perception;
  • Stands; sits; moves about the work area;
  • Bends forward; stoops; climbs 1 floor of stairs; crawls; reaches overhead; lifts up to 50 lbs.;
  • Pushes, pulls, and carries up to 25 lbs.;
  • Moves carts weighing up to 100 lbs.;
  • Operates a keyboard; speaks clearly and audibly;
  • Reads a 12 pt. Font; distinguishes colors and shades;
  • Hears a normal level of speech; and works in areas that may be exposed to dust.

Education Required

  • Bachelor's degree in computer systems related area; OR any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by County.

Experience Required

  • NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history.
  • County will obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants from Driver and Motor Vehicle Services and review the driving record according to the County policy and procedure for Driving on County Business.

  • The finalist for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check; however, conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this position. This assignment is represented by a union.
  • This is a full-time on-site position, which is eligible for overtime.

Work Hours

  • Typical Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with flexibility depending on the needs of the program and department.
