A growing Metro Detroit based consumer goods company is looking for a high energy senior executive focused on commitment to customers and employees with dedication to excellence and innovation.

Job Summary

We are seeking a leader with 15+ years of relevant management experience and skills to join our team. Management experience should include overseeing multiple facilities and a workforce with over 500 unionized employees. Candidates should also have experience interviewing, hiring, training, loss prevention, safety and performance management for all levels of supervisory positions within the department.

Candidates should be proficient with warehouse management systems and comfortable and managing a team of over 25 direct and indirect reports. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or supply chain or equivalent through work experience is required.


Labor relations experience working with union employees and collective bargaining agreements is required.


Schedule: General schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary by schedule. Evening and weekend work may be required as schedule demands. Some travel may be required.

Duties/Responsibilities:

·        Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the warehouses efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement.

·        Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to develop strategic plans and procedures to increase the efficiency of warehouse practices.

·        Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures.

·        Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.  

·        Ensures work environments are adequate and safe. 

·        Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to direct reports; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.

·        Improves customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.

·        Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations team to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective warehouse processes.

·        Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.

·        Establish and sustain that all supervisors and associates are trained and competent and understand how their work relates to the customers' business objectives.

·        Establish and sustain a culture of training and development to retain quality associates.

·        Establish and sustain effective, two-way communication that informs and motivates as well as recognizes excellence among team members.

·        Establish and sustain a strong and effective relationship with union representatives, stewards, and employees.  

·        Performs other related duties as assigned.

·        Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS

Classification: Salary/Exempt

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for leadership, performance management and hiring of the employees within its department.

·        Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of departmental managers.

·        Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. 

·        Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

 

Work Environment:

This position operates in a Warehouse environment.

Physical Demands:

·         This position requires frequent sitting; the employee will occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; extensive use of computer equipment, such as a keyboard and mouse.

·        The employee must frequently lift, carry, and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
