Position Specifications:

The Senior Underwriter position is responsible for evaluating and determining the eligibility of conforming, non-conforming, FHA and VA loan applications.The Senior Underwriter’s responsibilities include analyzing and verifying loan applications, evaluating risks, and making well supported loan decisions, confirming existing risk ratings based on established policies, procedures, and guidelines. The company is located in Dallas, Texas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Authorizing and underwriting loans. Reviewing and verifying loan applications and supporting documentation.
• Analyzing loan risk and requesting additional information as necessary.
• Making loan eligibility decisions and approving or rejecting applications.
• Reviewing and specifying loan conditions as necessary.
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and guidelines, applying appropriate underwriting criteria to applications following published credit policy to ensure financial exposure is appropriately mitigated.
• Documenting and effectively communicating reasons for approval, conditions, or rejection of loans with Loan Processors or Loan Originators.
• Keeps abreast of all new credit regulations and laws and ensures compliance with such.
• Document lending decisions and completes data entry in the LOS that include the accurate completion of the 1008, FHA LT, and VA Loan Analysis

Professional Experience/Qualifications:

• 5+ years of mortgage experience with background in loan processing and mortgage underwriting.
• Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) and VA Staff Appraisal Reviewer (SAR) Certifications, active and in good standing, are required.
• Proficiency in collateral (appraisal) analysis is required.
• An understanding of real estate terminology, mortgage lending practices, and mortgage loan requirements (FHA, VA, Conventional, is required.
• Experience underwriting non-conforming conventional, and Non-QM loans is a plus.
• Good working knowledge of mortgage loan processing and relevant legal regulations.
• Good working knowledge of AUS (DU & LPA) findings and their websites and troubleshoot any issues arising from system communications.
• Strong attention to details, high degree of accuracy and excellent organizational skills. Able to multitask and switch gears with ease.
• Exemplary customer service skills.
• Working knowledge of loan documentation, collateral perfection.
