Senior Storage Engineer

Service Express is looking for a talented professional who wants the opportunity to serve as a Senior Storage Engineer in our organization. The Senior Storage Engineer will be part of the Service Express (SE) Infrastructure team, which supports the SE Managed Infrastructure Services (MIS) portfolio globally. This role will be responsible for maintaining and supporting 24x7x365 high availability storage environments for SE. You will provide support for all operational-based changes for all supported applications. You will also be a point of escalation for any major impacting incidents where storage support is needed and would manage until resolution. You will also contribute significantly to the delivery of key growth projects where there is a storage component.

Here’s What This Position Is All About

• Support all storage technologies and process lifecycles in the Service Express Global MIS portfolio, specifically file, block, tape, and object storage systems - both on-prem and cloud.
• Provide level 3+ support to SE teams who are tasked with maintaining some of these systems including 24x7 on-call support.
• Participate in investigations of application performance issues within SE MIS and their integration points to identify systematic issues and root causes.
• Follow up with storage vendors to resolve system issues and drive future development.
• Upgrade and patch systems as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution.
• Develop scripts for the automation of routine tasks.
• Develop partnerships across the SE Enterprise, including compute, network, database, security, MIS delivery and MIS support for cross-facility support and engagement.
• Provide updates to management on support and project tasks.
• Provide training and documentation of systems and support procedures to be utilised by the wider engineering and operations teams at the SE Datacentres.
  
  

What we are hoping you can bring to the Service Express team...

• B.S. degree in an Information Technology/Engineering related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting and troubleshooting mid-to-large, high availability Storage and Data Protection environments specifically IBM plus one or more of the following storage systems: Dell-EMC, NetApp, HPE, Hitachi and S3.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in planning, documenting, validating, and testing technical solutions in a global enterprise setting.
• Experience in storage performance, data replication, SAN based backup, load balancing, storage virtualisation methods and SAN zoning/provisioning.
• Experience in Storage technologies such as Fiber Channel, iSCSI, CiFS, NFS, Flash, RAID, LTO, etc.
• Experience of SAN Fabric hardware – Brocade, Cisco
• Experience of cloud file storage solutions
• Change Management experience within a large Enterprise Environment
• Experience in Window/Linux Server build, configuration, and administration highly desirable.
• A good working knowledge of network infrastructure, services, and toolsets.
