Boeing Global Services (BGS) is currently seeking a Senior level Proposal Board Engineer in Long Beach, California. Proposal Board Engineers validate the technical content of the Description of Change (DOC) and development of a proposal estimate for the modification requests on a wide variety of commercial aircrafts – everything from McDonnell Douglas MD series airplanes to the latest Boeing 777X aircraft, and across Product Lines: Interiors, Connectivity/Avionics, Airplane Performance and Systems (AP&S).
Position Responsibilities:
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:
Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Position Responsibilities:
- Develop statement of work (SOW), for RFPs and Catalogs, containing engineering hours, flow time, and parts requirements
- Determine affected groups and supporting organizations, including engineering groups external to Mods
- Define airplane starting configurations and system functionality while using job classification and training to perform technical research to confirm description of change (DOC) accuracy
- Identify prerequisites that must be completed concurrently or before the customer requested change can be incorporated
- Develop preliminary risk assessments, resolve/validate certification type change (major/minor) and identify concurring E-UM/DAE as appropriate to mitigate project risk
- Classify each proposal with a project category as defined within BPI-2798 Safety Assessment Requirements for Post-Manufacturing Airplane Modifications of Commercial Operation
- Provide analysis of projects, schedules and documented lessons learned for incorporation into future projects to increase proposal quality to gather and cultivate business growth
- Coordinate with various design groups ensuring that proposals align reasonably with projected engineering resource constraints
- Excellent verbal and written skills with ability to communicate task progress and challenges within team and with technical leadership, both internal and external

- 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 5+ years of experience working in an engineering discipline
- 7+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of one or more airplane systems (e.g., Airframe, Avionics, Components, Connectivity, Power plant, Structures, Interiors)
- Experience supporting Aftermarket Modifications
- Experience with BCA productions systems and BGS modifications services
- Knowledge of the aircraft certification process
- Experience in Model Based Definition, CATIA, ENOVIA and PDM
