Senior Project Manager, Player Engagement

The Senior Project Manager, Player Engagement is primarily responsible for organizing and managing Player Engagement activations and Player Engagement’s role in league-wide initiatives, with a focus on effective stakeholder communication, executive-facing communication, task execution and process improvement.

Education And Experience

  • 4 year degree from an accredited university in marketing, advertising, communications, business, or related field and 6+ years experience in project management or related functional area; OR equivalent relevant experience
  • Project management and/or consulting experience
  • Proficiency in Excel + PowerPoint (Google Docs/Sheets)
  • Experience working directly with athletes (whether at a club, league or agency) strongly preferred
  • Experience working directly with executives strongly preferred
  • Baseball and sports enthusiast strongly preferred

Essential Functions

  • Establish and maintain player agency communication and meeting cadence
  • Lead internal reporting to inform stakeholders of latest Player Engagement activations
  • Ensure internal stakeholders understand and follow Player Engagement processes; streamline communication to the appropriate point people on the Player Engagement team
  • Interface with external stakeholders, specifically player agents, and help route requests and activations to the appropriate point people on the Player Engagement Team while tracking progress on inquiries and completion of request and projects
  • Identify areas of improvement and implement processes and procedures to increase efficiency across Player Engagement workflows
  • Lead the implementation, maintenance and improvement of the player engagement database to align players with league-driven opportunities based upon their personal interests and connections (e.g. hobbies, charities, endorsements)
  • Ensure key stakeholders are meeting deadlines on their deliverables
  • Initiate, monitor and finalize contract process with Legal team on player contracts/agreements
  • Submit invoices to Finance’s Accounts Payable team; perform necessary follow-up and troubleshooting on any issues with vendor setup.
  • Manage ongoing projects and track metrics related to success.
  • Lead Player Engagement’s role in certain league-wide initiatives, communicate updates to stakeholders and rally relevant individuals within the Player Engagement team to ensure we cohesively support league effort and events
  • Contribute to the development of MSO (mission + strategy + objectives) and KPI (key performance indicators)
  • Lead logistics related to player/former player activations and implement systems to make these processes as frictionless as possible:

○ Coordinate player transportation, lodging, and meals

○ Schedule all tours, meetings, workshops, and photo shoots, etc.

○ Own Player Engagement calendar and ensure all relevant team members are aware of upcoming player happenings

  • Manages MLB player ambassador program budgets to ensure they are being appropriately adhered to and tracked

Managing Responsibilities With Stakeholders

  • Demonstrates understanding of business priorities
  • Develops specific goals and project plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work in support of business priorities
  • Collaborates with team members, internal/external partners, and stakeholders to execute against project objectives
  • Provides ongoing status updates to share progress against established goals, gaps, and support needs to maintain progress against project plans
  • Actively solicits stakeholder feedback and responds to concerns in a timely manner
  • Communicates in a clear and concise manner that is easy to understand

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $105,000 - $130,000

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
