What we need

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer with Linux systems experience to assist in managing and maintaining our IT infrastructure. This position focuses on operational tasks and ensuring the security, reliability, stability, continuity, and efficiency of our technology infrastructure for our online SaaS products and internal systems. You will also work directly with key stakeholders of our customers’ IT organizations to help them understand, install, and maintain ei3’s managed secure network solution. This position reports to the Manager of Cloud Operations.

What you’ll do

Network Administration:

  • Manage, maintain, and improve the organization's network infrastructure. Monitor network performance and ensure optimal connectivity, reliability, and security within SLAs.
  • Perform root cause investigations and provide corrective actions and solutions for problem management.
  • Perform vulnerability detection, analysis, and mitigation activities. Participate in security incident response and work as a level 3 escalation.
  • Create and follow high-quality technical documentation of infrastructure, troubleshooting procedures, internal requirements, and best practices.
  • Participate and lead discussions and workshops with customer IT organizations on the security and design of ei3’s industry-approved managed secure network. Guide them to adopt ei3’s standardized approach to maintain and manage security, save time, and reduce installation and lifetime maintenance costs.
  • Provide the customer support (ei3 Care) team with level 3 network troubleshooting assistance; prepare supporting documentation as needed. Interact with customers via the ticketing system, videoconference, and phone.
  • Support our SaaS and hardware product development, customer engagement, and assembly operations teams in the design, development, testing, assembly, training, installation, and use of our proprietary IIoT products and services.

Systems Administration (nice to have):

  • Ability to install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and workstations. Perform systems maintenance tasks, such as system updates, back-up, recovery, and file maintenance, to promote uptime and efficient performance.
  • Monitor automated system performance/infrastructure services and capacity levels to ensure that they meet current and future business needs.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain “Fortigate” firewall systems. Work with other IT team members to ensure redundancy and reliability of Wide Area Network Solutions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

About you

  • A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Science, or equivalent.
  • At least six years of experience working in the area of network engineering and systems administration.
  • Experience working with large-scale enterprises in the design and implementation of diverse network architectures and troubleshooting without direct supervision.
  • Experience with advanced TCP/IP networking concepts (IP addressing, routing, firewalls, DNS, iptables, etc.) and network analysis and tools (traceroute, wireshark/tcpdump, MTR, etc.).
  • Experience with Linux-based systems is desired, with bash shell scripting and Red Hat or Debian specifically considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of security aspects of hardened internet appliances and internet networking.
  • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong sense of focus, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Highly autonomous and self-driven with a strong sense of ownership; proactive initiative taker.
  • Fluent in English reading, writing, and speaking, with excellent communication skills.
  • A sample of the candidate’s prior technical documentation may be requested during the interview process.
