We are seeking a seasoned Senior Accounting Manager to join our global team in Watertown, MA. This role is a “hands-on” position with direct responsibility for daily accounting and payroll operations, month and quarter-end closes, international operations, technical accounting as well as being a key contributor to the implementation of projects and systems upgrades. This role will manage a small team of direct reports.
The ideal candidate has international accounting experience and experience improving the quality and timeliness of the financial close process. The candidate is an advocate for automation, process improvement, performance metrics, transparency, and teamwork. This position will be based at our HQ in Watertown, MA with a hybrid work schedule consisting of a minimum of 3-days per week in office.
Responsibilities:

Partner with international service providers to support foreign operations, accounting, consolidations, and compliance requirements
Prepare and/or review of general ledger postings and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
Prepare monthly financial statements, in accordance with US GAAP, for distribution to management and investors
Perform technical accounting research on a wide variety of business transactions and document conclusions in accounting position papers
Manage external service providers engaged to prepare the annual tax provision and tax returns
Manage and support the annual audit process (including audit planning, preparation, support, close-out and ongoing improvements.)
Manage the sale and use tax process
Streamline, automate, and continuously improve processes and internal controls
Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing insights to support decision-making
Work with Director, FP&A, to help provide financial projections, coordinate budget/forecast preparation, and collect, analyze, and consolidate financial information to provide the business with financial insights
Lead cross functional collaboration with business and finance functional partners to provide root cause analysis; develop actionable analysis, insights, and recommendations based on financial and non-financial data leveraging multiple data sources
Ad hoc projects as needed, including implementation of new finance systems/upgrades or technical accounting research and documentation
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as the company grows, dependent upon both business needs and capabilities of the incumbent
Ensure that customer requirements are understood, met and applied within the defined scopes and the employee area of work responsibility
Provide guidance and awareness to the organization and support with necessary trainings, tools and methodologies.
Define needed trainings and awareness program and needs within the team.
Requirements:
BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA is required; MBA or MSA preferred
Minimum of 7+ years of total experience with escalating levels of responsibility, including people management
Strong understanding of technical accounting issues
Experience with ASC 606 and ASC 842 required
Excellent knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and managing a month-end close and reporting process. SEC reporting experience preferred.
Experience in helping drive toward IPO readiness
Ability to assess and implement technology to automate and control numerous accounting processes
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and advanced analytical and quantitative skills
Superb attention to detail, strong work ethic and excellent time management skills, with the ability to handle many priorities simultaneously
Systems experience: MS Dynamics/Great Plains experience preferred; eRequester and Concur a plus; Strong Excel skills required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to convey ideas on complex accounting issues
Detail and systems oriented, strong organizational skills and commitment to completeness and accuracy required
Previous experience with international accounting highly desirable
Experience managing a team required
Small company and product company experience strongly preferred; Comfortable in a high growth, entrepreneurial environment; Ability to be flexible and agile as business needs and goals shift
