Senior Business Affairs Manager:


A team player who will collaborate with producers, creatives, finance, and account management on the business and legal aspects of production. Requirements include everything from ballparking to reconciling all costs associated with production, as well as advising the team on all aspects of production throughout the process.


Responsibilities:


  • Review all boards/scripts and advise the team about talent, copyright, and intellectual property issues, providing recommendations in collaboration with legal counsel.
  • Understand and ensure that all parties (agency, production, edit, etc.) adhere to client and agency guidelines and policies.
  • Partner with Producers to create ballpark estimates and bid specs for proper project scoping.
  • Attend production pre-bid meeting.
  • Review and negotiate all vendor bids with Producers and partner with Cost Consultant (if required) for feedback and approval and maintain best practices for triple bid (internal/external vendors) as required.
  • Create production estimates for client approval and revise them as necessary.
  • Draft, negotiate, and execute contracts and Purchase Orders for production, editorial and, all vendors.
  • Advise team on SAG-AFTRA talent requirements and waivers as well as foreign talent sessions and buyouts. Review and negotiate foreign talent bids with account teams to ensure they meet required usage to align with client requirements.
  • Collaborate with the talent managers to issue talent contracts for SAG and foreign talent.
  • BA handles foreign talent re-negotiation and payments with prod./service production companies
  • Review and bind insurance needs during the bidding phase to determine if special insurance is required and estimate properly. Shooting abroad requires further requirements.
  • Partner with producers to secure all stock footage and image rights.
  • Liaise with legal on contracts regarding special production/talent needs that are outside of normal scope.
  • Process production invoices, including generating vendor PO’s, and help facilitate payments.
  • Manage and process the necessary paperwork and approvals to set up new vendors in our financial systems.
  • Monitor actuals/job status through job closing for final review with the team.
  • Upon close of job, ensure files are completed with all necessary final paperwork (signed contracts, completion reports, music licenses, etc.) for reference purposes and audits.
  • Work with the team to make sure they are following agency protocols and compliance when using Influencers, celebrity talent, preferred vendors, etc.
  • Manage vendor follow-up on payment.


Requirements:


  • 10 years working as a Business Manager and/or team supervisor in advertising production.
  • Strong knowledge of production and post-production industry.
  • Creativity and innovative problem-solving skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to establish appropriate process and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of SAG and non-union talent standards.
  • Experience working directly with client and client designated production consultants.
  • Ability to work with variety of personalities and able to manage multiple projects and teams seamlessly.
