About the Position
The Senior Accountant addresses financial and accounting functions related to the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, expenses, billing and more. They are responsible for actual to budget variance explanations and performing account reconciliations and analysis, accounting research and providing information for client requests.
Responsibilities
• Support Controller, interact as required with clients on a daily or weekly basis. Respond to client communications with 24 hours.
• Organize and plan engagement workflow, set priorities and delegate tasks under evolving circumstances for different clients.
• Develop a strong understanding of client’s industry, accounting operations and procedures.
• Supervise and review Accountants’ and Analysts’ daily/monthly workload including but not limited to transaction processing activities, journal entry preparation and monthly account reconciliation.
• Prepare/review reconciliations for significant balance sheet accounts and various other general ledger accounts, as needed.
• Maintain general ledger including accounts payable and accounts receivable sub ledgers.
• Prepare and/or review day-to-day and month end close entries including payroll, benefits, expense allocations, and other entries, as appropriate.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, financial analyses and budget variances.
• Recommend and adhere to best practices, internal controls and policies.
• Participate in the ongoing development and improvement of client financial systems
• Other duties as assigned
This position prefers a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or another related field. A CPA certification or other relevant certifications is a plus. Experience working in the NFP (Not-for-Profit) space is strongly preferred, and 3+ years’ general accounting and payroll experience in a corporate setting is required.
