Description
Job Summary:
Research Assistant will join the PI’s efforts in the development of therapeutics and vaccine for treatment/protection of HIV and/or Mtb infections. Candidate will be trained to perform in vitro and in vivo experiments and contribute to the laboratory research program. He/She will perform experiments utilizing molecular biology, microbiology/virology, and /or immunology techniques and assays. Perform experiments in the laboratory which will include, but not limited to: animal experiments, Mtb culturing, implement breeding colony management through timed matings and weaning, performs genotyping as needed, maintain mammalian cell cultures, transfections, will help the lab postdocs in running assays such as Western Blots, qPCR, WB, ELISA as well as carry out data analysis.

Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Work experience related to microbiology, immunology and/or molecular biology techniques are needed. Previous experience managing large breeding colonies is preferred. Familiarity with animal models, Mouse handling, bleeding, processing experience of animal tissues is strongly preferred.
Qualifications
Required Education / Experience:
M.S. or equivalent degree
Strong background in microbiology, immunology or molecular biology with interest in research of infectious diseases. Prior experience in laboratory organization and management is a plus.

- Prepare abstract, manuscript for publication and written reports of research (5%)
- Makes scientific presentations and performs other work-related duties as assigned (5%).
