R&D Food Scientist

Job summary

The primary role of the R&D Food Scientist is to assist R&D department with the development of new products as well as improve existing items through creativity and practical pastry abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Bench-top testing and bench projects for internal and external projects
  • Develop product formulations using current and new model systems
  • Arrange internal tastings including flavor screenings, application testing and sensory testing for new projects
  • Outbound sample coordination including preparation and arrangement of all samples to ensure proper delivery
  • Complete stability testing for optimal product quality and food safety
  • Lab maintenance and organization as needed
  • Assist operations team to ensure successful production of finished products outside of initial lab setting
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelors or higher in Food Science preferred or equivalent work experience in food science
  • 1-3 years’ experience in the field of Food/Beverage
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Pastry, baking, cooking basic knowledge and interest
  • Ability to read and do mathematical calculations with precision and consistency.
  • General knowledge of a manufacturing environment/can function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and also works well with a team with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of cleaning and sanitation concepts.
  • Ability to lift 50-60lbs multiple times throughout the day
  • Ability to stand for entire shift at work
