Job Description

Job Summary: The process Engineer reports directly to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for the development of printed circuit board manufacturing processes, to meet the challenging fast pace technology requirements for our customer’s next generation products. Activities include: pitch reduction development (currently below .3 mm) sequential buildup technology with laser microvias, and high speed signal integrity development including material evaluation and optimized processing parameters. The Process Engineer will be required to interact with Harbor management and sales resources.

The Role: A key member of the engineering team developing state of the art printed circuit board processes and products. This is a unique opportunity to interact with customers and head up projects directly to develop our printed circuit manufacturing capabilities to align directly to our customer’s technology roadmap.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish standard engineering practices for printed circuit board processing utilizing, Design of Experiments, process capability monitoring, and product reliability testing.
  • Perform testing on all new printed circuit board processes to confirm capability and long term product reliability.
  • Transfer new printed circuit board manufacturing process procedures to manufacturing personnel.
  • Distribute technical specifications for new processes and products to the sales organization.
  • Provide support to sales organization for all new printed circuit board processes and products.
  • Develop and maintain printed circuit manufacturing processes including writing procedures, optimization of processes, training, troubleshooting, and statistical process control.
  • Evaluate new printed circuit board manufacturing equipment and make purchasing proposals to management.
  • Develop yield improvement techniques and process monitoring tools for improving yield in areas of primary responsibility.
  • Interface with customers and vendors on printed circuit board fabrication issues.
  • Generating customer reports when required including corrective actions.
  • Evaluate customer specific requirements on particular printed circuit board designs and develop manufacturing methods for achieving customer requirements.
  • Monitor complex orders during the printed circuit board manufacturing process to insure optimum process control and maximize yield.

Education and/or Experience:

  • College graduate with a BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, physics, chemistry, or equivalent.
  • Technical engineering acumen with an emphasis on theory, mathematical analysis, and design of experiment.
  • Familiarity with printed circuit board manufacturing and statistical process control.
  • Excellent interface and communications across all organizational levels.
  • Excellent problem solving and resolution skills required.
