Photography & Videography Intern - 2024-25 Academic Year

The Photography & Videography Intern will assist Cardinal Home Center in curating personal and professional video and photography content to represent our brand to current and prospective customers for use in various areas, including web, social media, YouTube, and other potential platforms. This role involves working closely with Cardinal Home Center’s marketing team, senior leadership, and employees to plan, create, and edit content that ties to the brand and encourages online engagement. This position requires a commitment of 15-20 hours per week, including travel time. The intern will primarily work at our Crozet location and travel to other locations; editing and tasks may be done remotely with prior approval, with a minimum time per week dedicated to being in-store.

Expected Duties And Responsibilities

• Videography (50%)
• Works with Marketing Team to develop and execute shooting schedule and video topics
• Curate footage of locations and special areas as directed by the Marketing Team
• Produce at least 5-10 videos per semester covering product and brand demonstrations, employee and department spotlights, and other videos
• Prepare video outlines and scripts promptly to distribute to employees
• Consult with employees on filming timelines and specifics
• Align videos to Cardinal Home Center’s brand and identity
• Edit videos using Adobe or other video editing software
• Voice over video content
• Photography (40%)
• Coordinate with marketing team to determine photography needs for social media, advertising, and website needs
• Develop a robust photo library for printed and digital content
• Travel to Cardinal Home Center locations and schedule shoots with managers at each store
• Prepare photography equipment for photo shoots
• Work with employees and customers to capture photos that match branding standards
• Obtain necessary photo releases
• Photograph Cardinal Home Center events where applicable
• Work with internal staff to take and edit headshots
• Social Media (10%)
• Assist in curating content and short videos for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms where applicable
• Take photos in-store of employees and customers as needed
• Travel to client homes and job sites for photography and videography as needed
  

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Currently enrolled in a university or college program
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient with photography and videography techniques, including lighting, audio/video editing, and graphic design
• Experience with photo and video editing software is strongly preferred
• Commercial pilot’s license for drones is preferred but not required
• Knowledge of digital marketing trends
• Experience working with or interest in do-it-yourself home projects preferred but not required
• Must have valid Driver’s License and dependable vehicle to commute between locations as needed
