Assigned Training Specialist/DSP

At St. Coletta's, our mission is to serve children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities so they can achieve their greatest potential.

The Community Day Services (CDS) provides a variety of programs to enhance each individual’s adaptive living skills, economic self-sufficiency, overall level of independence and integration into the community.

The CDS is seeking a Training Specialist/DSP assigned to one particular consumer, responsible for direct care, supervision, assisting with industrial subcontract work, and providing systematic training to improve vocational, personal, and social skills. If consumer is absent, trainer will be re-assigned to another work area.

1st shift: 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Develops, coordinates, and implements methods of instruction that enhance the consumer's vocational skills
  • Documents all injuries and illnesses and notifies nursing when necessary
  • Ensures the safety, security, and well being of assigned consumer remaining awake and alert at all times
  • Implements individual behavior program (if applicable) for maladaptive behavior ensuring that target behaviors are dealt with through consistent implementation of the current program
  • Attends and contributes to consumer IPP meetings
  • Keeps supervisor informed on all consumer issues/concerns
  • Will assist consumer with production work
  • Ensures industrial job specifications are met by supervising consumer in the fulfillment of the department's production obligations
  • Assists in the efficient implementation of the department's Industrial Services quality control program
  • Tracks and records consumer production information
  • Adapts individual work stations to meet the needs of the consumer served
  • Maintains a safe, clean, organized, and realistic work environment for the consumer

Qualifications

  • Prior experience with special populations preferred.
  • High school graduation or equivalency required.
  • Must be over 18 for adult programs.
  • Must possess a valid IL or IN driver’s license with no restrictions.
  • DSP certified, preferred.
  • Must pass a physical/drug screening test.
  • Must pass a MVR report.
