Position: Network Engineer

Duration: 6-month contract (potential for extension)

Onsite: Downtown Indianapolis

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of our client's data, voice, video and wireless network services. It is expected that this person makes regular recommendations regarding the technical solutions and technical partners. Additionally, this person is the liaison to our networking vendors and application owners on matters regarding performance, availability and security. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  • Manage a Cisco, Fortinet and Meraki infrastructure environment consisting of 200+ malls, outlets, regional offices and Data Centers
  • Responsible for the design, engineering, installation and maintenance of one or several of the following disciplines: Data Center, Azure Cloud, SD-WAN, Local and Wide Area Networks, VOIP Networks, Security Appliances, VPNs and Wireless Networks.
  • Install, support and configure Cisco core routers and switches, Fortinet Firewalls and all necessary security applications. Provide ongoing network maintenance, including updates and security patches.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and solve potential network performance issues. Manage Fortinet and Cisco infrastructure-related and other network requests and problems. Support customers and employees via email, telephone, and face-to-face interaction.
  • Evaluate new network technology. Assist with the planning and design of future network architecture. Prepare basic cost analysis and vendor comparisons to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations and measures feasibility of various approaches.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to the installation, administration, and maintenance of network infrastructure.
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
  • Participate in managing all network security solutions and help insure all network systems meet compliance requirements
  • Ensure changes are planned and implemented in a sound low risk manner, without creating system outage

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in computer science/electrical engineering or a minimum of 3 years equivalent work experience.
  • CCNA minimum certification, CCNP preferred.
  • Proven experience and success with SD-WAN, LAN, WAN, WLAN, VOIP, design and implementation. Specifically Fortinet, Cisco, Meraki, vendors and technologies.
  • Experience with FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiEMS and other Fortinet fabric a plus.
  • Proven experience with network security principles, and network management best practices.
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards.
  • Excellent network troubleshooting experience, ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
  • Demonstrated competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
