Job Description

Based in Pittsburgh, PA, Kerotest Manufacturing Corp., a world class supplier of products for the energy markets, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer. For over 100 years, Kerotest has been a leading supplier of valves, systems, fittings, and accessories for the energy sector, with a particularly strong history in the natural gas distribution and transmission areas.

This position will design plastic and steel valves, fittings, and other flow control devices for the Company.

Duties include:

  • Creates and maintains product design schedules
  • Assists manufacturing in the selection and implementation of manufacturing production processes, fixtures, tools, material flow, and operator training
  • Creates CAD design models, bills of material, material selection, procedures, ERP system inputs, and detail drawings
  • Prepares test plans and procedures and assists in the design and selection of test fixtures, equipment, and tools
  • Reviews customer specifications and applicable Codes and Standards
  • Performs formal design reviews, design verification, and product qualification
  • Maintains accurate engineering records
  • Analyzes product issues in production, installation, and service and develops
  • corrective action methods as needed

Qualifications:

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering required
  • Two to five years of experience in product development and manufacturing environment
  • CAD experience required
  • Proven mechanical design engineer. Competent with CAE tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skills
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to work in a team environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of injection molding, machining, and other manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of valve design, test, and qualification methods

Work Environment: The majority of the work is office based, but frequent interaction with manufacturing and supplier associates, processes, and systems is expected. Regular laboratory testing (both internal and external testing laboratories) will be required. Occasional off-shift and weekend work may be required to satisfy project deliverables.
